Policy
As of January 31st, 2014 it is the policy of the Lakeshore facility to maintain
an abuse free establishment,
Purpose
The Lakeshore facility strives to ensure all residents live in a safe and
protected environment in accordance to all applicable laws, rules,
regulations and accreditation standards.
Scope
Staff, residents, family and guardians.
Procedure
    Upon admission family and guardians will receive a copy of the abuse
     policy.
    All residents have the right to be free from verbal, sexual, physical,
     mental and financial abuse.
    If a resident feels he/she is being abused they can report it to any
     staff member.
    The Social worker will conduct a thorough investigation.
    Staff on all shifts will be interviewed.
    Bodily harm will be immediately reported to the local police
     department.
    If a staff member is reported abusing a resident he/she will be
     suspended immediately and indefinitely pending investigation.
    If a resident is reported abusing a staff member he/ she will undergo
     mental counseling.
    If residents are reported abusing one another they will be separated
     and undergo mental counseling.
    In any of the above situations the family/guardian will be contacted
     immediately.
    The administrator will randomly ask to attend a resident council
     meeting and listen for complaints.
    If a person wants to anonymously report abuse they can call 1-800-
     ABUSE.
 All staff will be in-serviced as needed.
 Pre and post testing will be conducted along with in-service training to
  ensure comprehension of the rules concerning abuse, this will be
  scheduled annually or more often as needed.
 Violation of this policy will be dealt with in accordance to facility
  policy.
