Our Club is an English speaking and Multicultural Club in Kyrenia, Cyprus. We re-
ceived our Charter on January 3rd 2017 and currently have 28 active members
(14 men & 14 women) as of September 2017. UP COMING EVENTS
REMINDER
We meet on every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 2:30pm at Merit Park
Hotel in Karaoglanoglu, just 10 minutes West of Kyrenia.

Our Club extends a warm welcome to men and women of all ages and all nationali-
ties resident in Cyprus. Former Rotarians and Rotaractors and interested members of Pre-Christmas Dinner

DG's VISIT on 25th October

District 2452 - DG Christina Covotsou Patroclou visited RC Kyrenia Cosmopolitan, RC Nicosia Sarayonu, RC Kyrenia
Liman and RC Kyrenia St. Hilarion at Golden Tulip Hotel, in Nicosia.

First Part of the Visit: Our Club President Gultac Ozsan, Incoming
President Hakk Muftuzade, Secretary Munevver Cagin Bektas,
Fellowship Chair Behiye Muftuzade, Treasurer Gloria Tattersall,
Membership Chair Anja van Raam, Fundraising Chair Grace Visscher,
Executive Secretary Deren Firat, Deputy Imren Gurbasar and our Club
Mentor PAC Dervish Yashar Baha attended the DGs visit. It was an
extremly useful and friendly meeting with DG Christina. AG Elena Tanou
and AG Tastan Altuner were also present during the DGs visit.

Second Part - Gala Dinner: After the visit, a Gala Dinner was also
organised in honour of DG Christina with many guests at Golden Tulip
Hotel. Opening of the Gala Dinner was done by the eldest President of North Cyprus Rotary Clubs, President Halil Ergin
from RC Kyrenia Liman. Followed by the Toasts: by President Gultac Ozsan from RC Kyrenia Cosmopolitan for DG
Christina and by President Erten Necat from RC Nicosia Sarayonu for the President of Rotary International. Closing of
the Gala Dinner was done by the Incoming President Levent Kizilduman from RC Kyrenia St. Hilarion on behalf of the
youngest President of the North Cyprus Rotary Clubs Emir Kaynak.

DDG & AGs Visit

DDG Elena Tanou, AG Tastan Altuner and AG Caterina Kalavas visited us on 7th October at our 19th meeting of 2017-2018 Rotary Year.
We had a Fellowship Lunch prior to the meeting with our Club Members, guests and visiting Rotarians. The attendance of our
meeting was very high and it was a very successful meeting with all our members and visitors.

DDG Elena prepared an inspiring presentation for us about Rotary. In her presentation she gave us tips on making a difference and
also proposed many great sample project ideas. Thanks to DDG Elena for her motivating speach!

DDG and AGs were happy to see so many guests at the meeting and DDG Elena commented "... you are disseminating Rotary
challenges and projects very widely". Thanks again for joining and honouring us at our meeting!

POLIO AWARENESS EVENT

SUMMER BBQ @ Blakes

24 October is World Polio Day. We organised a fund raising Summer BBQ event in aid of Rotary
Polio Fund and raised a total amount of 2.520 TL ! It was a great event organised by Rtn Gloria
with many visiting Rotarians and Lions ladies. Thanks to all who joined and contributed to this
meaningful event. Also thanks to Blakes for hosting our fundraising event.

OUR ON GOING PROJECT : Collect the Caps

Collect the Caps Project for Wheelchairs

This project is an ongoing project in aid of Cyprus

Turkish Orthopaedic Disabled Association. We are
collecting the blue bottle tops and presenting them to
the Association on a regular basis.

Our Fellow Rotarians Brian Joyce, David Vollans and PP

Malcolm Mitcheson volunteered for the
transportation of the bottle tops collected in October.
Great effort!

More bottle tops are collected by 23 Nisan Primary

School 3 Mavi Classroom students at different
times during October and our Fellow Rotarian Deren
volunteered for the transportation of the bottles to
the Association.
Thanks to the students and their teacher Beste
Gumusdag for their contribution and awareness.

CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

- Guest Speaker Dr. Emel Bayar

We had a very special Guest Speaker at our Club meeting

on 28th October. Dr. Emel Bayar, who is Childhood Cancer
Specialist, joined us and gave us a speech about Childhood
Cancer. We also had many visitors at our meeting.
Thanks to Baskent Lions Club Members , PAC Dervish
Yashar Baha, Rtn Sevinc Ege, Rtn Susan Walsh, Nermin
Anl, Ayse Kukner, Tulin Ural and our Prospective member
Figen Rasmussen for joining us. It was a great fellowship
and very informative meeting.

- Cancer Awareness Event at Near East University

As Rotary Cosmopolitan Club, we have attended, to this

meaningful event at Near East University on 9th October. The
Event was organised by our Club Member Rtn Imren Gurbasar and
her students studying at the
Faculty of Economics and
Administrative Sciences
Student Club.

It was a very powerful event for us to be more educated and aware

and to support those who have Breast Cancer even much more than
we already do. Congratulations to Rtn Imren and to her students for
organising such an important event.

FELLOWSHIP
with Lions Ladies

President Gultac, Rtn Mutlu and Rtn Gloria attended a Fellowship Brunch with
Baskent Lions Club on 1st of October.

Another Fellowship Lunch was organised with Baskent Lions Club on 13th October in
Nicosia. President Gultac, Rtn Behiye and Rtn Munevver also attended the Fellowship
lunch on behalf of our Club and strenghthen our relationships with Lions Ladies.

CONTRIBUTION TO A FUNDRAISING MUSIC NIGHT by RC Sarayonu

RC Sarayonu has organised a President Gultac and Rtn

fundraising Music Night on 6th Deren represented our Club
October, in aid of Dr. Burhan at the night. AG Tastan, AG
Nalbantoglu Hospital at Alice Caterina and PAC Dervish
Home Cafe, in Nicosia. It was a also attended this amazing
great concert with a very famous music night. Congratulations
Turkish singer Birsen Tezer and to RC Sarayonu. It was a
her Band from Turkey. We are great event!

RCKC GOLF TOURNAMENT

14-15th October

We organised a Golf Tournament in aid of Yesilyurt Special Needs School at CMC Golf Club, in Lefke. It was a great
event and we raised 13,000 TL. Thanks to our President Gultac and members Rtn Gloria, Rtn Behiye, Rtn Hakk,
Rtn Yvonne, Rtn Deren, Rtn Mutlu, Rtn Grace, Rtn Stuart, Rtn Irene, Rtn Anja for taking part in organising this
event and for their effort in making this tournament happen. A big thank you to Rtn Malcolm Lees, who is also a
CMC Golf Club member. He was the head of this project and worked extremly hard to organise this event with
the assistance of our Fundraising Committee and voluntary club members. Lastly thanks to Rtn Brian, who is also

of Special Education Teaching, who volunteered for helping us during
our Golf Tournament.

Worcestershire, visited us on 7th October
at our Club meeting and presented their
flag to President Gultac. Thanks to Rtn Ken
and his wife Rtn Liz for visiting us.

Our Club Secretary Munevver visited

the RC Ankara Internarional during her
stay in Turkey and exchanged flags. We
have a great relationship with RC Ankara
International and looking forward for
joint projects in the future.

November News:
- Our Fellowship Committee is very bussy and focused on organising a Pre-Christmas
Fellowship Dinner in November. The Dinner will take place at Kmr Restaurant in Kyrenia.

- We will have another speacial Guest Speaker in November. PAC Yashar Dervish Baha will
be joining us at our Club meeting on 25th November.

Something Exciting:
During the DDG Elenas visit to our Club, we learnt that a great tree planting project will be
held in February 2018 and trees will be planted all around the island at the same time by
the Rotary Clubs of Cyprus. We are very happy and excited to be a part of this project. We
already have an ongoing re-planting project for the Camlibel area where there has been a
huge forest fire in early 2017. Why not join one more? We will share more information in
our November Newsletter.
