Tell me something about yourself.

My name is Divye Gupta, I am a mechanical engineer and completed my graduation from jamia millia
islamia, Delhi. My schooling is from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Delhi. My father is a doctor and mother is a
teacher. I always like to get involved in creative projects and projects which involves lot of human
interaction and something different in me is, I try to think from other persons perspective, like what is
he expecting out of me which helps me to make a bond with him.

What are your short term and long term professional goals? OR Where do you see yourself in 5/10
years?

My short term goal is to become the area sales manager where I would be leading a team of individuals
for the short term goal I would say I wanted to learn this field in depth so that when in long term I would
become product manager, I would have known the real time challenges that I could face for my product
and how and in which direction, I can put up my efforts to make the product successful. It would be like,
if you are a manager in a manufacturing firm, you should also know about the shop floor also.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Strength
1. Hardworking( tenacious)
2. Creative potential (research paper, projects)
3. Always try to learn new thing, Remain fascinated by new concepts ( initiatives in placement cell)
4. Good at multitasking
5. Try to understand a situation from other persons perspective
6. Adaptive and flexible to various environment and among various people
7. Rate of adaptability and improvement is very high
8. I like to take initiatives
9. Committed to my work, whatever I do, I put everything of myself into it

Weakness
1. Sometimes, I expect a lot from people whom I work with
2. Overanalyzing the problem/situation
3. Sometime I let other peoples emotion overpower my managerial decision
4. Sometimes trust people too much, then get emotionally hurt
5. Sometimes I take too many initiatives and overburden myself
6. As I told I put everything of myself into whatever I am working for, in the case if we fail, it hurt a
lot

Mention situations where you used these strengths

1. Creative potential (would be very helpful for product innovation)

Research Paper: I conceptualized and designed a device which could maintain the inside
temperature of the car near to the outside temperature, when the car is parked outside in the
scorching sun and usually temperature rises upto 650C due to greenhouse effect. This was
later published in SAE international and was much praised by higher authorities of Maruti
and other industries.

Internship Project at DMRC: Here also I conceptualized and designed a device which could
derive energy from the waste air in the tunnel in which metro runs.

2. Try to understand a situation from other persons perspective

During the field work for our vehicle fabrication project I had interact with a lot of people,
shopkeepers, vendors, suppliers. There I learnt this skills, now I know how to make people
happy.

3. Adaptive and flexible to various environment and among various people

Right from taking to local shopkeepers and vendors means doing the field work during my
project to talking to corporates as I was the part of placement cell, I remain flexible to all kind of
environments.

4. Rate of adaptability and improvement is very high

I started my life from a small village near greater Noida and here I am sitting in from of you at
NMIMS.

5. Committed to my work, whatever I do, I put everything of myself into it

Was part of senior placement committee, change in placement policies and other initiatives
placements rose by 60% (i.e. 26 to 42)
During the last 6 days of our vehicle fabrication project, there was some malfunction in the
vehicle other things also got in our way, slept for only 18hours in those 6 days that too in the
automobile lab of college, finally stood 3rd overall in the competition.
Mention what approaches you took to overcome your weaknesses

1. Sometimes, I expect a lot from people whom I work with

Having the right kind of people in my team, overtime I realised that it is not me who was
expecting a lot from others, it is others who had some different priorities. If you are doing a
vehicle fabrication project, you will have to leave some classes, you will have to stay in clg after
the classes so always chose people whose priorities are inline with yours.

2. Overanalyzing the problem/situation

Tackle the situation according to the gravity of the problem, no need to analyse too much on
trivial things

3. Sometime I let other peoples emotion overpower my managerial decision

See what is best for the team as a whole see what coach carter did means dont fear for the
short term criticism that you will face try to judge for the long term consequences.

What is your greatest professional/personal achievement till date?

Professional worked for 2 years in placement cell, initially in junior committee then in the senior
committee, I will say one of the toughest job in the world which you are going to love. We took so many
new initially, focused on every single thing that we could have improved and result placements rose by
60%, I know much credit can be given to the market, it was good for our batch but somewhere we knew
it was our hard work also. The hard work we did is still proving results for our juniors. Always felt the
pride when you see your batch mates getting placed and when they come to you and thank you for
whatever you have done.

Personal: I started my life from a small village near greater Noida, there I used to study in a small hindi
medium school, from that phase of life to becoming the entrance exam topper of my college till
reaching in this college, I have seen a lot of ups and downs in my life and whenever I look back I always
feel the pride for my journey and it always motivates me to do better in life and keep working hard.

What are your hobbies/interests? Why didnt you pursue them professionally?

It would be a huge risk to pursue my hobbies as a career and I agree a person should take the risk but
risk should be sensible, like most of the successful music composers and djs that I have seen in the field
of electronic music, they started their career in music from the age of 12-13 years,, moreover these are
the things that I like to do in my free time just to distress myself or to enjoy the moment.
Why should we hire you? OR What will you bring to the table?
I think my profile matches with the kind of intern you are looking for, the kind of work that I have done
till now ( be it in the corporate project of sales and marketing, be it the field work I have done in the
college) will surely match with that I will get during the internship. I will be having no problem in
working any kind of environment and that too in any part of india.

Why should we not hire you?

Sir, I myself cant see any reason but I think you are a better judge of the situation and unless after the
conversation you wouldnt have felt that I will be the suitable candidate for the profile you are looking
for.
