Specific Goal: I want to make my audience understand about what is stalking.
Introduction:
1. What is stalking?
a. Unwanted or obsessive attention by an individual or group towards another person.
b. A distinctive form of criminal activity composed of a series of actions that taken
individually might constitute legal behavior.
c. A pattern of repeated threatening or harassing behaviors that directly or indirectly
communicate a threat, or place the victim in fear.
d. Two types which is online stalking and threatening behavior.
e. Also a domestic violence.
f. Very dangerous especially for girls.
g. Today, I am going to share some new information regarding stalking.
Thesis statement:
The information that I will like to share today is about who is a stalker, effects of stalking on the
victim and how to protect from stalkers.
Body
Main Point 1: Who is a stalker?
Topic Sentence: Firstly, I will like to share with all of you the types of a stalker.
I.1 Domestic stalkers.
I.1.1 There is a historical relationship between the offender and the victim.
I.1.2 Examples: Initially motivated by a desire to continue or re-establish a relationship but
can evolve into an attitude of if I cant have her, no one can.
I.2 Non domestic stalkers
I.2.1 A relationship exists only in the mind of the offender.
I.2.2 Examples: Can be motivated by fantasies or voices directing him or her to target a
particular individual and, the stalker almost always surveils or physically stalks the target
preceding the encounter with the target (A Typology of Interpersonal Stalking, 1996).
Closing Statement: As we all know, stalker is dangerous and they maybe have mental issues.
Main Point 2: The effects of stalking on the victim.
Topic Sentence: Secondly, I will like to tell you about effects of stalking on the victim
2.1 Emotional (fear and paranoid)
2.1.1 Victims describe becoming wary drivers, constantly checking their rear view mirror,
pulling over to allow cars to pass, and driving home by varied routes.
2.1.2 Many victims limit their social outings and many lose contact with friends as a
consequence.
2.2 Behavioral
2.2.1 Heightened anxiety, sleep disturbance, loss of appetite.
2.2.2 A deterioration in physical and/or mental health.
2.3 Traumatic
2.3.1 Some report flashbacks (can be caused by a knock at the door or the phone ringing, or by
people whose appearance or voice resembles the stalker)
2.3.2 Some forbid their children to answer the door or the telephone.
Closing Statement: So, there are many effects of stalking on victim that we dont know and
its happening and causes many people especially woman.
Main Point 3: How to protect from stalkers?
Topic Sentence: Lastly, every bad thing happen has solution.
3.1 Try not to feel alone
3.1.1 Talk to your friends; keeping everything inside will only make things worse.
3.1.2 Dont walk or stay alone. Every time or anywhere, there must have someone with you.
3.2 Save all evidence
3.2.1 Write down the date and time of every incident.
3.2.2 Keep letters and answering machine messages for proof.
3.3 Notify the police as soon as possible
3.3.1 Dont think that you are somehow provoking his behavior or that you are paranoid.
3.3.2 Let people around you know and if something happen then they will tell the police.
Closing Statement: Generally, there will have the effect on the victims but if you prevent it
from happen then your life is safe.
Conclusion
1. While the introduction of anti-stalking legislation in the Criminal Codes criminal
harassment section was a very important step in the fight against stalking, there is still
more that needs to be done.
2. The public and the criminal justice system both need to understand just how serious a
crime stalking is. The emotional and psychological damage done to a stalking victim last
a lifetime, greatly altering how these victims go about living their daily lives. Not only is
psychological damage done, but there is also a great risk of violence.
