Organic + Fair is the topic of the Biofach 2010. These are the two buzz words which are well-known to us because
they represent the foundation of our eco-social economy. For several years z o t t e r has exclusively produced
in ORGANIC + FAIR quality because we intend to operate in harmony with NATURE and the HUMAN BEINGS.
We do not manufacture niche products but are the only chocolate manufacturer throughout Europe that produces
an entire ORGANIC + FAIR assortment from the bean (bean-to-bear).

The platform for consumers “Marketcheck“ by Greenpeace takes a close look on the market and uncovers the eco-
logical performance of products and companies. On the occasion of Valentine’s Day Marketcheck has examined
various pralines. The results of confectionery products from major chocolate manufacturers such as Ferrero, Guyli-
an, Heindl, Hofbauer, Lindt, Manner, Mars, Milka, Nestlé, Storck or Suchard are disappointing.

On the occasion of St. Nicholas’ Day various chocolate bars have been scanned. z o t t e r and EZA emerge as
the winners of this study.

Ecology and environmental awareness do not represent minor issues for us. An ecologically compatible product
starts with the purchasing of ORGANIC + FAIR products and ends with an environmentally friendly packaging. We
urgently need to raise the public awareness about independent market analyses such as Marketcheck which
demonstrate the customers what they really spend their money on and comment on what stands behind the pro-
ducts. Josef Zotter is delighted about the result.

Taste instead of plastic


It is impossible to eat plastic. No matter how ecologic the production and the packaging are, in the end the product
has to convince the customer’s palate because the packaging alone will leave you hungry. Just like ORGANIC +
FAIR an eco-social economy + top-quality chocolate also belong together. The hand-scooped chocolates have
become a cult. With creativity and a strong commitment to quality Josef Zotter constantly brings about chocolate
creations which outperform all expectations. Last year he launched the worldwide first fish chocolate on the mar-
ket. Once you have dared to try it, the taste of “Pink Coconut and Fish Gum” will impress you.

Cocoa farmers from the Amazon forest visit the BIOFACH 2010
The rain forest is divided by the controversial Transamazônica-Straße which was never finished. In the middle of
nowhere the farmers who settled down in this region fight for their livelihood and those who stand up for a sustai-
nable development policy also fight for their own life. (Two leaders of the FVPP were murdered).

z o t t e r cooperates with several farmers from Medicilândia and obtains his cocoa from them. During his
last visit to Brazil Josef Zotter invited the cocoa farmers for a return visit. Now they have accepted this invitation:
Accompanied by Helmut Weiß from the German Development Service (ded) the farmers will visit Austria from
February 14th to March 4th. During the entire trade fair period the cocoa farmers attend the BIOFACH 2010.

fuses into a unique experience due to its movable tasting stations. The Choco-Shop Theatre at the factory of
