Competency 001-013
Competency 001: The teacher understands human developmental
processes and applies this knowledge to plan instruction and ongoing
assessment that motivate students and are responsive to their
development characteristics and needs.
A teacher needs to understand the stages of human development
process to better understand how an individual grow from infancy
to adulthood. This will help the teacher understand how to
instruct a lesson plan that is suitable for that childs age and
better to fulfill the needs of that child through their
developmental stages, but beware of developmental delays.
Competency 002: The teacher understands students diversity and
knows how to plan learning experiences and design assessments that
are responsive to differences among students and that promote all
students' learning.
A teacher needs to understand the diversity in the classroom and
in the community, so that the teacher can better understand the
students diversity and promote a healthy student learning. Also,
to promote an understanding in the childs environment.
Competency 003: The teacher understands procedures for designing
effective and coherent instructions and assessment based on
appropriate learning goals and objectives.
Having an effective lesson. That is planned, effective and
appropriate for each child age. It need to be taught to each child
for an appropriate goal and purposes so that each subject is
understood.
Competency 004: The teacher understands learning processes and
factors that impact students learning and demonstrates this
knowledge by planning effective, engaging instruction and
appropriate assessments.
The lesson needs to impact an engaging instruction and
appropriate lesson that accommodates each student age, but the
teacher also needs to understand the difference that a student or
child may have to accommodate that lesson for that child, so each
child learns their full potential and receives the same education.
Competency 005: The teacher knows how to establish a classroom
climate that fosters learning, equity and excellence and uses this
knowledge to create a physical and emotional environment that is
safe and productive.
A teacher need to provide a safe, productive, and stable
surrounding for all student. The student need be treated as an
equal. As this will establish a healthy relationship with the
student to feel safe in their settings and a productive year of
learning.
Competency 006: The teacher understands strategies for creating an
organized and productive learning environment and for managing
student behavior.
The teacher needs to have and organized classroom for the
students to be productive in their education and by these
strategies help promotes a good and manage behavior in the
class. Also, their needs to be a officiate set of rules to accomadate
an organized classroom and to promote a good behavior and
learning environment.
Competency 007: The teacher understands and applies principles and
strategies for communicating effectively in varied teaching and
learning contexts.
The teacher should know how to communicate the curriculum to
the student through different strategies. As this would include
visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic learning. So, by teaching
these techniques can help each child learn in their own style of
learning. This would include reading, telling stories and showing
visual examples.
Competency 008: The teacher provides appropriate instruction that
actively engages students in the learning process.
Teachers can keep children active in their studies by telling stories
or activities by engaging each student into the lesson. This would
include asking questions and enhancing their skills on a subject or
put the students in groups.
Competency 009: The teacher incorporates the effective use of
technology to plan, organize, deliver and evaluate instruction for all
students.
The teacher needs to know how to communicate the lecture in a
way that it is understandable for every student either by
computer, or even on the board. It needs to be well thought out
and organized and deliver in the way that students will benefit
from it.
Competency 010: The teacher monitors student performance and
achievements; provides students with timely, high-quality feedback
and responds flexibly to promote learning for all students.
The teacher demonstrates stages that can accomadate a high-
quality learning from all student. By placing different ways of
learning into a class that will help modify the flexibility in the class
and with the students.
Competency 011: The teacher understands the importance of family
involvement in children's education and knows how to interact and
communicate effectively with family.
The teacher should understand that family is a very important
factor in that childs education. So, by providing and interacting
with the family of each student. The teacher will get some insight
and a better understanding of what is going on in that childs life.
Also, the teacher is creating a safe zone for that child and family.
Competency 012: The teacher enhances professional knowledge and
skills by effectively interacting with other members of the professional
community and participating in various types of professional
activities.
Communicating with peers and fellow teacher is creating a
ground of trust and understanding. It shows the reflection of
interest in the all student education and in the community. In
contrast, participating in the school programs shows a great deal
participating in the community.
Competency 013: The teacher understands and adheres to legal and
ethical requirements for education and is knowledgeable of the
structure of education in Texas.
Following the requirement and what the school expects as an
educator. Being aware of the rules and regulations that might
affect a teacher or school.
