Speed Control of DC Motor

The document discusses speed control of a DC motor using pulse width modulation. It explains that the speed of a DC motor can be varied by applying pulses rather than continuous DC voltage, with duty cycle controlling the speed - higher duty cycles produce higher speeds. A microcontroller generates pulses from a keypad to drive an isolator and control the motor speed.

Speed Control of DC Motor

As the name specifies DC motor is a energized by DC voltage. We can vary the speed
of DC motor by the use of Pulse Width method. In this we are apply a pulses rather
than the continuous DC voltage. As the duty cycle of pulse is varied speed of DC
motor is varied. If the duty of pulse is less speed of motor is less. If the duty of pulse
is more speed of motor is more. We are using a keypad of different different duties.
When a specific key is pressed a specific pulse is generated by the microcontroller,
which is further use to drive the isolator. Isolator is used to provide the isolation
between microcontroller and motor.
