Activated Carbon for the Treatment of


Glycerine
In the production process of biodiesel technical grade of glycerine can be purified to pharma grade by
using activated carbon.
Depending upon the specific application and process, granular activated carbon types in fixed bed
filters or powdered activated carbon in stirring or suspension technique can be used.
The advantage of the fixed bed filters is that the spent activated carbon can be reactivated, which is
an economical and environmentally alternative to disposal.
Donau carbon supplies special grades of granular or powdered activated carbon for this application.

Epibon Y 12 x 40 (granular)
Carbopal MB 4 (powdered)
Carbopal AP (powdered)
Hydraffin P 800 (powdered)
