"Amoris Laetitia" (The Joy of Love)

Family and from bishops’ conferences from around
the world, Pope Francis affirms church teaching on
family life and marriage, but strongly emphasizes
the role of personal conscience and pastoral
discernment. He urges the church to appreciate the
context of people’s lives when helping them make
good decisions.  The goal is to help families—in

that they are welcome members of the church. All

St. Mother Teresa's ANYWAY Poem
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and
some true enemies;

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;

Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;

Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;

It was never between you and them anyway.

Warmest greetings to all the members of

TNTT Đoàn Thánh Gia,

As we are celebrating the Feast Day of

the Holy family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I want to share with you a story about the Holy Family from a little boy.
A Sunday school teacher asked her students to draw a picture of Jesus' family. After collecting the drawings, she
noticed that one little boy's drawing depicted an airplane with four heads sticking out of the windows. "I see you drew
three heads to show Joseph, Mary and Jesus," she said to the boy. "But who does the fourth head belong to?"
The boy replied, "That's Pontius the pilot."

The little boy drew Pontius the pilot (and yes, it is supposed to be
Pontius the Pilate) to fly the airplane because of course, the airplane
could not fly without a pilot!  But what if YOU can draw more people
flying in the airplane with the Holy Family, who would you draw in
the picture?  Jesus, Mary, Joseph and..??... For me, I would put my
immediate and my extended family of TNTT Đoàn Thánh Gia along
in the picture of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.  This is
because I want my immediate and my extended family TNTT Đoàn
Thánh Gia to be like the Holy Family. A family is a place of love,
where love is nurtured and joy is experienced.  It may have its flaws
and may be broken at times but knowing that we are blessed with
the graces of God, we can overcome any challenges together.
We want our families to be like the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and
Joseph because we want to know that we are loved, we are to share that love generously and to always be there to
support each other unconditionally.

Today, reflect on how your own family can grow together in love by treating
each others with kindness through words and actions:  “How can I help you
with dinner Mom?”  “Thank you for sharing with me how your day went.”  “I like
your idea because…” “I am sorry that I did not hear what you said, please say
it again.” “I love you Mom/Dad/brother/sister.” Please also remember to say this
prayer for your family, for our Chapter and for all other families:  “Heavenly
Father, you have given us the model of life in the Holy Family of Nazareth.
Help us to make our family another Nazareth where love, peace, and joy reign.
May the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus make our hearts humble like His.  May we
love one another as God loves each one of us, more and more each day, and
forgive each other’s faults as you forgive our sins.  Amen.”
St. Teresa of Calcutta.

We thank you God for your blessings on all families, especially on our ex-
tended family of TNTT Đoàn Thánh Gia as we celebrate our 13th year of being
your beacon of light.  Happy Feast Day of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and
Joseph and TNTT Đoàn Thánh Gia!!!  God bless everyone, especially the
Huynh Trưởng and the kids at Holy Family Chapter. Much Love in Christ.

NGÀNH THIẾU NHI - “HY SINH”
HOW DOES THE CHURCH DEFINE LOVE?

"The theological virtue by which we love God above all

things for his own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves
for the love of God." Paul tells us that love is the greatest
of the theological virtues: "So faith, hope, love abide,
these three; but the greatest of these is love"
(1 Cor. 13:13).

"We must love our neighbor as being made in the image

of God and as an object of His love."
-Saint Vincent de Paul

“God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.”

-St. Augustine

NGÀNH NGHĨA SĨ - “CHINH PHỤC”
Tr. Maria Magđalêna Nguyễn Khả ÁI
Ngành Trưởng - Ngành Nghĩa Sĩ
(Companion - Division Leader)

In concert with Pope Francis's theme for this

year, "Amoris Laetitia" (The Joy of Love), we
Huynh Trưởng (HT) would like to express our
great joy and blessing that NS has grown as it
has this year. Nghĩa Sĩ is a joyful time, but it is
also a time of great spiritual and emotional
challenge. To assist in this challenge,
the HT set aside six goals for the Ngành this
year: Spirit, Respect, Friendship, Humility, Faith,
and Personal Growth. Tied to these goals are
six "giving keys", which are passed from one
student to another as congratulations for repre-
senting these goals, or a gentle reminder to let
these goals shine through their actions. These
six goals have been expressed through each
student's actions every week in actions and
games (and in the Ngành song/dance
"Put Your Hands Up" by the Planetshakers).
The HT have watched the Ngành grow closer
and stronger in their faith, and friendships
form. Because of this, we are so very proud of
our Nghĩa Sĩ kids, and would like to express
that we love them immeasurably. In the rainy days to come, we hope that
Nghĩa Sĩ continues to be a golden beacon, as strong and bright as the sun,
for this Đoàn to look to.

NGÀNH HIỆP SĨ - “DẤN THÂN”
HS - Lâm ANTHONY
Ngành Hiệp Sĩ Cấp I
(Knight of the Eucharist - Level I)

What Make us Hiệp Sĩ Stand out from other

Ngành’s, is that the meaning of our slogan
“DẤN THÂN” means to go out there and to
serve. Not like other Ngành’s in Phong Trào we have our
very own 4 Khẩu Hiệu of Hiệp Sĩ which are Charity, Unity,
Fraternity, & Service, we are the closest step to get to HT,
but most importantly our soul got its color dark brown
from the blood of the Vietnamese Martyrs and dirt of the
Vietnamese Culture.
Tr. Phêrô Lê Học NGHĨA (PETER)
Ngành Trưởng - Ngành Hiệp Sĩ
(Knights of the Eucharist - Division Leader)

This year in Ngành Hiệp Sĩ we are ACTIVEly living out the calling/vocation of
what it means to be a KNIGHT for CHRIST. With our source of energy and
summit of our daily day being the EUCHARIST, we are ACTIVEly living not only
the 4 mottos of VEYM-TNTT; which are Cầu Nguyện - Prayer, Rước Lễ -
Communion, Hy Sinh - Sacrifice, & Làm Việc Tông Đồ.

In addition, we go beyond that to live out the 4 maxims of a Hiệp Sĩ Thánh

Thể/Knight of the Eucharist: Charity (Bác Ái), Unity (Hiệp Nhất), Fraternity
(Huynh Đệ), and Service (Phục Vụ). Tie these elements to our VEYM mottos
life style and we are ready to go and be active Disciples for Christ!

This year the theme for our Ngành HS is inspired by St. Ignatius of Loyola,
quoting: “Go Forth and Set The World On Fire!” This energy help us brighten
and uplift the spirit of God in all works that we do. Knowing that we can help
discover to “Find God in All Things” and that “Christ Live is Me.”

It’s very exciting to have 21 young-energetic knights in our Ngành this year.
We are very thankful to have talented, loving, and passionate HTs in our
Ngành which are Tr. Diana, Tr. Kiều Linh, and myself.

We've done various trainings, retreats, and bonding activities this past year in
2017, and as move in 2018 we plan to go out and actually DO more service
projects and be “ACTIVE” Catholics in our community, “To Know, To Love, is
To SERVE God!” May we continue to do
God’s work to the best of our ability and may
he guide us in all our paths as we continue
to grow in Faith, Hope, and Love.

But in all loving spirit, my most cherished memory would be

From halloween to easter to dressing up as Israelites!
Costumes and the creativity behind it, gives me a sense of

BTV: Thư Ký Đoàn (Chapter Secretary)
As I prepared for HT camp, there was no questioning that completing camp
was my next step in life. I spent a year training with Tr. Nha as a HSTT, I was
able to see Jesus' love through the smiles of all Sa Mạc Sinh, which became
my main motivation to work hard! As we enter into 2018, I will be going on
my third year as a Huyen Trưởng.  Since promising to serve as a member of
BTV, I've learned that being a servant leader is a constant growing process,
and it's a process of love. I only wavered a little when I had to make the
decision between moving to Texas or staying, but in the end, it was easy;
TNTT Auburn is my home. The spirit we have here is so uplifting and un-
matched, I'm blessed to be able to serve Đoàn Thanh Gia.

Tr. Giuse Trần Hoàng BRIAN

BTV: Thủ Quỹ Đoàn (Chapter Treasurer)
The reason why I became a part of BTV was because I felt like it was time to
take on more responsibility than just being a Huynh Trưởng at TNTT. As the
Treasurer, I was given the duty of monitoring and managing the finances of
TNTT in Auburn. I would like to see even more new HT faces as the future
years roll by. I joined TNTT when I was in middle school and was placed in
my Godfather’s class (Anh Hà) in Nghĩa Sĩ Cấp 1. That was when I met some
of my closest friends as well as models and mentors that helped shape my
identity. TNTT has provided a community for me and has helped me grow a
heart to selflessly serve others.

Tr. Maria Đào LEAH

It’s an honor to be Pho Quan Tri for Đoàn these next three years. Using my
previous leadership experience, I hope to bring new ideas that will help
improve the organization of the group. As I spend this next year learning
more about my position and adjusting to my responsibilities, I wish to try
different events/ activities for the entire Đoàn to experience. My biggest goal
is to provide a good experience to các em and instill more spirit into their
lives each week. Cheers to the future!

WHAT IS LOVE?
HS - Phạm DZANH - Ngành Hiệp Sĩ Cấp I (Knight of the Eucharist - Level I)

Love, according to the dictionary, is an intense feeling of deep affection. However, many
people have their own interpretations of the word and it’s hard to give it a concrete
definition. There are many types of love too. The differences can be shown between
husband and wife, family, or any sort of dating. Love for non-living things exists such as
food, nature, and studies. And of course, there’s the love of God. The love I’m going to focus
on today is love directed to a significant other. My definition of love is: Doing the greatest,
highest deed for the other person. Now, love can be confused with lust or something minor
like puppy love. Sometimes people may lose interest in each other, but that does not mean
they no longer love each other. Love is a strength and a weakness in certain situations. Love makes you do
unthinkable, crazy things all because of a certain need or feeling to. Love can blind you, but it can also make you
see things clearly. Love can guide
you to good and bad places, and
humans need love to survive. I
believe that God is love, and if I
learn how to love, I can continue
believing in God. Love is hard, but
that’s what makes it worth fighting
for. This is all from someone who’s
bad at love.
19
HSTT. Banabê Hoàng CHRISTOPHER
(Youth-Leader in Training)

Ever since I joined TNTT, I've always

aspired to become a Huynh Trưởng. The
Huynh Trưởng's I've had teaching me and
guiding me all throughout my years in TNTT
have given me a big influence on life.
They've taught me more about Catholicism
as well as gotten me closer to my own
Vietnamese Culture. Stepping foot into HT
Camp, that's when I first started getting a
taste of how being a Huynh Trưởng is like.
It was honestly very nerve racking,
especially with the whole test and exam at
the end, but as long as you focus and know you're information, you will
do great! Teaching a class is very exciting! It can be very scary, but as
long as you are confident, the kids will be all ears to you. Becoming a
Huynh Trưởng is not an easy task.
But the journey, all the things you
learn along the way. That's what is
going make you become a better
Huynh Trưởng. As long as you put
your mind to it, you put your grind
to it, nothing can stop you and get
in your way!

HSTT. Giuse Nguyễn Lâm ERIC
(Youth-Leader in Training)

Your call to be a HT? My call to be a HT stems

from my love for God and my ability to aid
children in loving God as well. This organization
has been such a huge part of developing the
individual I am today and I saw becoming a HT
as a chance to give back to the community of TN.

Your experience in the classroom.

As of now I am teaching AN Cấp 3 with
Anh Anthony (Currently Ngành Trưởng) and it has
been an amazing experience. We have around 12 lovely kids that are full
of energy. Yes they do present a challenge at times but I am grateful I
have the class that I do.

Words of Wisdom to become a HT. To those out there that strive to

become a HT I congratulate you! The desire to help the kids and to gain
that red scarf is already half the battle. It takes a lot to want to volunteer
your time and effort to TN without expecting anything in return. Hang in
there and be the best at what you do. I know many of these task won’t
make sense but let the thought of helping kids and loving God drive you.

Your Journey to become a HT as of now….

Becoming a HT has had its moments from power struggles, difficult
colleagues, and drama but I saw it as a chance to better myself and the
people around me. This journey has
been a great one! I’m just excited to
finally get my red scarf and become a
full member of the group that leads
TNTT. One of the biggest Catholic
organizations in the world.

xin Chúa ban thêm ơn quảng đại thứ tha, để chúng con an vui
Amen.
