Inmarsat-A is an analogue mobile satellite system that provides global two-way communications via satellite. It uses L-band frequencies and satellites coordinated across four regions to connect portable terminals to phone and data networks worldwide. Inmarsat-A is used on ships, land vehicles, and in remote areas without terrestrial connectivity by journalists, relief workers, construction crews, and for emergency backup.
