Guideline and Recommendation For The Design of Tank Foundations

The document provides guidelines for three types of tank foundations: earth foundations with a crushed stone ringwall, earth foundations with a concrete ringwall, and reinforced concrete slabs. Each type is suitable for different tank and soil conditions. Earth foundations with crushed stone are most economical when soils can adequately support the tank. Earth foundations with concrete ringwalls are suitable for large or heavy tanks imposing substantial loads, or where uplift forces may occur. Reinforced concrete slabs are recommended when underground water levels are high or soil bearing pressures are low.
