‘The equipment manufacturer should design so that initially
fond throughout life no design-maximum value for the
intended service is exceeded with a bogey tube under the
worst probable operating conditions with respect to supply
voltage variation, equipment component variation, equip-
ment control adjustment, load variation, signal variation,
environmental conditions, and variations in the choracteristes
of all other electron devices in the equipment.

NOTES
Operated with the two sections of the heater connected in parallel and the resulting combination in series
with the heaters of other tubes having the sane bogey heater current.

centered at the specified bogey value, vith heater supply variations restricted to maintain heater voltage
within the specified tolerance; for series heater operation, the equipment designer should design the equip-
ment 0 that beater current is centered at the specified bogey value, with heater supply variations restrict-
ed to maintain heater current within the specified tolerance.
Heater current of a bogey tube at Ef = 6.3 volts.
Heater current of a bogey tube at Ef = 12.6 volts.
The tine required for the voltage across the heater to reach 80 percent of the bogey value after applying
4 times the bogey heater voltage to a circuit consisting of the tube heater in series with a resistance
equal to 3 times the bogey heater voltage divided by the bogey heater current
Without external shield.
Control grid to cathode spacing of this type is of such low order of magnitude as to preclude the use of
voltage between these elements of more than 50 volts de or peak ac in comercial tube checkers or shorts
indicating devices, particularly where vechanical excitation of the tube is employed.
Applied for a short interval (two seconds maximum) so as not to damage tube.
