CONSTANT PLANNING ADJUSTS A MODERN SCHOOL

TO GROWING COMMUNITY NEEDS

2
DEDICATION
TO
BOARD OF EDUCATION
/
In this good country of ours we are proud of our individual rights,
privileges, opportunities and freedoms provided for and guaranteed by
our great democratic form of government. We are equally conscious
of and proud of the responsibilities it requires of each individual in
return for those coveted privileges.

A great portion of the work in carrying on our democratic form of

government is done by unpaid men and women who give freely of
their time and energy serving on commissions, councils, committees
and boards. They are the unsung heroes in our society .

Topmost among these unselfish public servants are the boards of edu-
cation throughout the land who represent the local communities in
directing programs of education in the public schools.

It is therefore fitting and proper that this 1958-59 School Annual be

dedicated to the Board of Education--Past and Present--of this school
district. These men have given unselfishly of their time and service,
and have with the support and cooperation of their patrons been
responsible for the fine educational opportunities of this community.
'
To all of them we express our deepest gratitude.

SUPERINTENDENT
D. A. MALLORY

There is a story about a boy who lived in the country many years ago. At a certain time in the
· afternoon when the sun was shining he could see a house in the far distance with beautiful
golden windows.

It became the ambition of this boy to some day go to this distant house, see its beauty and visit
with the lucky people who lived there. In time he did travel there arriving in mid-morning.

To his amazement and disappointment he found not the mansion he expected, but a dilapidated
shack in which he would not want to live. In his disappointment he turned toward home. To
his surprise his own house in the distance took on the appearance of a beautiful mansion with
golden windows.

Of course in both cases his position in relation to the sun made the difference.

May vve always be sure that we see the opportunities, advantages, and blessings that are ours,
and are immediately about us. Perhaps this book will help remind us of those opportunities.
To our willingness and ability to take advantage of all that is ours I dedicate this page of this
book. As the years go by may our memories all be pleasant ones as we glance through it.

6
Secondary Education provides many opportunities for the student. These
goals can b e achieved in this short period of the students life. 1. Mastery
of those fundamentals which are required for effecti ve and worthy living .
2. Information about occupations, vocations , and professions, but not
training at the expense of our cultural education. 3. Attainm ent of those
qualities of personality and character which are agreeable to others and
ennobling to one's self. These goal s are expressed in general terms.
Perhaps the one outstanding goal yo ung peopl e should attain is an ap-
preciation of their respo sibiliti es as members of th eir social order.

Irl Day
High School
Principal

The school curriculum is that part of a child's

total education which the school consciously
directs . The total education which a child
receives in growing up is much more than
this curriculum. The home, the church, and
other community organizations have a large
responsibility toward children .

All these agencies are on the same team with

the school. Teamwork pays!

Richard King

What our bqys and girls accomplish in school is

determined to a great extent by the kind of at-
titudes they possess. In fact, it is next to impos-
sible to educate an individual who~e thinking is
in the wrong dire~tion. We, as parents and teachers,
must combine our efforts in helping to form the
Dan Bruffet
wholesome attitudes which will result in a balanced Elementary
education for each individual student. Grade Supervisor

When the books close, and the last bell
rings,
And carefree days are lost to mundane
things -
When nostalgia strikes, and your memory
wanes,
And you remember the faces but not the
names -
Pick up you~ yearbook and leaf it through,
And remember the days so dear to you.
