Generic Name: Ampicillin + Sulbactam

Date and Time the Drug Ordered: August 4, 2015 @ 5:30 P.M

Classification: Anti- infectives, aminopenicillins, Beta lactamase inhibitors

Dosage/route/frequency: 4.5 grams IV for 8 hours ANST (-)

Mechanism of Action: Binds to bacterial cell wall, resulting in cell death, spectrum is broader than that
of penicillin. Addition of sulbactam increases resistance to beta lactamases, enzymes produced by bacteria
that may inactivate ampicillin.

Desired Effect: This drug was given to our patient to treat his infected wound.
