My Heritage Web Pages
Students will develop a Web Site, which includes information about their heritage. This
site will include information about their culture such as language, food, music,
ancestors, etc.
Objective
To help students become aware of their heritage, past and present accomplishments in
various areas. To apply tags/elements and CSS style sheets learned to their web
pages.
GPS: Standards
IT-WD-3 Create documents using a variety of tags following coding
practices commonly used to create web pages.
3.1 Identify basic HTML document (web page) layout & tags used to create web pages
according to industry standards (e.g., header, footer, side bar, main content,
navigation/menu bar, tabs/drop downs).
3.2 Demonstrate ability to create a web site utilizing the latest version of HTML (e.g.,
headings, paragraphs, breaks, lists, links, images, horizontal rules, divs).
3.3 Demonstrate ability to format text using proper tags set by the W3C (strong,
emphasize).
3.4 Demonstrate ability to use tables to control the layout and appearance of data.
3.5 Demonstrate ability to create forms that accepts user inputs.
3.6 Demonstrate understanding of the importance of validating web sites and tools
available for the process.

Step: 2:
Obtain the following information for your Web Site
Include information/biography about their heritage
Include Poems/ Lyrics
Include information about their culture (language, food, dress)
Famous Quotes
Businesses/ Entrepreneurs
History
You may include entertainers, Actors, Doctors, Lawyers, Poets, Comedians, Athletes,
Businessmen and Women, etc.
Cite all resources
Step 3 Your Web site must include the following:
Graphics, background and tables.

Technology Connection
Students will utilize the Internet to obtain information about their project and to obtain additional
tools to help develop tier Web Site.
Assessment
Students will be graded using the attached Rubric.
Extension
Remediation
Students with learning disabilities will be given additional time to complete their assignment. The
teacher will also be available to assist students during before and after school.
Modification
For students with significant disabilities, what changes can be made in instruction and teaching
delivery to allow students to participate in classroom instruction while working on IEP objectives and
off grade level GPS standards.
