Loona, stylized as LOOΠΔ, is an upcoming South Korean girl group formed by Blockberry Creative,
a subsidiary of Polaris Entertainment, set to debut in 2018. Each month, starting in October 2016
and lasting for 18 months, there is a new release of a single album or extended play, introducing a
new member or sub-unit to the group. In 2018, with the project completed, all twelve members will
debut as one group.[1]

History[edit]
Pre-debut project and Mix Nine[edit]
On October 2, 2016, Blockberry Creative announced through Naver that they would be debuting
their first girl-group through an 18-month long pre-debut project.[2]
Between October 2016 and January 2017, members HeeJin, HyunJin, HaSeul, and YeoJin, were
revealed in each month, releasing a single album each.[3] The group's first sub-unit, Loona 1/3,
consisting of previously revealed members HeeJin, HyunJin, HaSeul, and new member,
ViVi,[4] released the extended play Love & Live and accompanying single of the same name on
March 13.[5] The sub-unit officially began promoting from March 12, with promotions beginning
on SBS's Inkigayo.[6] They released a repackaged edition of the album, titled Love & Evil, on April
27.[7]
Between April 2017 and July 2017, members ViVi, Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry released their solo
albums, continuing the same monthly pattern.[8]
In September 2017, three members, HeeJin, HyunJin and HaSeul, auditioned for JTBC's reality
show Mix Nine, only HeeJin and HyunJin passed the audition stage making it onto the show.[9]
The group's second sub-unit, Odd Eye Circle, consisting of JinSoul, Kim Lip and Choerry, released
the extended play Mix & Match on September 21, 2017, and began promotions on Mnet's M
Countdown.[10] The English version of "Loonatic" was released on October 23.[11] On October 31, they
released a repackaged edition of the album, titled Max & Match, which included three new songs.[12]
Between the months of November 2017 and December 2017, they released the solo albums for new
members Yves and Chuu.[13]
