The Commissioning of the Disciples “The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to
which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshipped, but they doubted. Then
Jesus approached and said to them. All power and authority in heaven and on earth has been
given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of age.” - Mt. 28:16-20
The relation of the Gospel on the stages on the Journey of Faith, for me, speaks about how we
are called to be disciples and heralds of the Good News. Our very self is a precious gift to the
Lord, in full and total submission to Him, surrendering our wants and desires, our dreams, and
even our career/profession if necessary. The Gospel also reminds us that we must truly have faith
in Him, never doubting, especially now, on my personal journey towards my maturity in faith
and in personal relationship with God, I myself admit that there are times that I have setbacks but
I never lost hope, I have never abandoned my faith in God, He is the only one who gave me
peace when I was lost and when I was in need of someone to talk to. On our journey in faith we
recognize God’s omnipotence, His providence and His bountiful love in each of us, He Himself
said that He has been given by the Father all power and authority, what is there to worry about if
He will look after us. Lastly, as children of God, He gave us the mission to openly send
ourselves voluntarily to reach out to others, to let them know that there is a God, that they might
experience God, just like by going to churches and be a part of youth organizations, ecclesial
communities, and be a catechist, who uses himself/herself at the service of God and of His
church. God knows our heart, He knows if what we do, if for our own personal glorification, He
knows that those persons who dedicate themselves truly to the service and lovingly accepting the
challenges and trials brought about by this Brave New World, we should not be afraid nor be
ashamed to carry the cross on this perilous journey, but be steadfast and remain confident as we
journey toward stages of faith, for the Lord has promised, that He is with us, until the end of age.
