SELF-LOVE LESSON PLAN

Objective:
- Understand why self love is important and deeply understand the definition of self
love
- The steps of accomplishing self love (loving yourself)
- How can we apply self love to build/strengthen relationship

Hook
- Draw a heart, showing the percentage of how much you divide it to love something.
Did you forget something, you forget how much you love yourself. You are busy
worrying on all the other external factors; on the ones you love; friends, families,
boy/girlfriends/ people who you are close with ( people you care about). But you
never evaluate how much you love yourself.
- Sometimes you never value yourself and you would do things that would hurt yourself
in many ways. Maybe you broke up with your girlfriend, maybe you had a fight with a
friend or one of your family members.
- The resolution of these actions could affect your future, but you chose to ignore it
such as dropping your grades at school; don’t listen to your lectures, don’t study for
exams and quizzes, ignore your remaining friends; refuse help from others.
- Sometimes those actions could be a very dark path to walk on. Commit suicide,
commit a crime, murder, theft.

Introduction
- What is self-love, then? Is it something you can buy in a beauty makeover or a new
set of clothing? Can you get more of it by reading something inspirational? Or, can a
new relationship make you love yourself more? The answer to all of these questions
is No! Although they feel good, you can't grow in self-love through these types of
activities. Since, self-love is not simply a state of feeling good.
- Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support
our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. It grows by actions that mature us.
When we act in ways that expand self-love in us, we begin to accept much better our
weaknesses as well as our strengths, have compassion for ourselves as human are
more centered in our life purpose and values.
- Self-love is not the feeling of being too self-centered or a too self-consuming
behavior. This is a big misunderstanding.
- The truest type of self-love is not the type that produces selfishness, or an egotistical
attitude, but is actually just the opposite. It's a type of love that liberates you to be the
best you can be. It allows you to exceed previous limitations. When you’re in the
state of total self-love and acceptance you're generating the most effective energy of
love. This love has a powerful impact on everyone you deal with throughout your day.

7 Steps to self love

1. Become mindful. People who have more self-love tend to know what they think, feel and
want. They would act on this knowledge, rather than on what others want for them.
2. Act on what you need rather than what you want. By staying focused on what you need,
you turn away from automatic behavior patterns that get you into trouble, keep you stuck in
the past, and lessen self-love.
3. Practice good self-care through healthy activities, like sound, nutrition, exercise, proper
sleep, intimacy and healthy social interactions.
4. Set boundaries. set limits or say no to work, love, or activities that deplete or harm you
physically, emotionally and spiritually, or express poorly who you are.
5. Protect yourself. Bring the right people into your life. There isn't enough time in your life to
waste on people who want to take away the shine on your face
6. Forgive yourself. The downside of taking responsibility for our actions is punishing
ourselves too much for mistakes in learning and growing. You have to accept your
humanness (the fact that you are not perfect), before you can truly love yourself. Practice
being less hard on yourself when you make a mistake. Learn and grow from your mistakes.
7. Live intentionally. You will accept and love yourself more, whatever is happening in your
life, when you live with purpose and design. Your purpose doesn't have to be crystal clear to
you. If your intention is to live a meaningful and healthy life, you will make decisions that
support this intention, and feel good about yourself when you succeed in this purpose. You
will love yourself more if you see yourself accomplishing what you set out to do.
(write down each step with the keywords on the board)

Self-Collage:

- Using pictures cut from magazines, your teen can assemble a collage of hopes,
aspirations and talents that she can hang in a prominent place to remind her of her
worth. Not only will it remind her of her abilities, but it will stand as a testament to
what an individual she is.
- For this activity, I want you to identify the steps that you’ve accomplished in self-love
on the left, put your pen or pencil down when you are done.
- On the right, I’ll let you design and make a collage that represents your goals in
self-love using the magazine pieces provided. Don’t worry about gluing, just place it
as you’d like, we will laminate it for you.

Conclusion:
You can improve. You can get better. You can reach your goals.
1. When you love who you are, you accept who you are

2. It gives you confidence and approval

3. You will avoid self-reproach

4. When you love yourself, you look better

5. If you love yourself, you are more likely to have a better family life

6.When you love yourself, the world around you changes

Exit slip:

her a large piece of poster board and a stack of magazines to go through, instructing her to
find pictures that represent her, suggests EducationWorld.com. Not only will it remind her of
her abilities, but it will stand as a testament to what an individual she is.

A Seven-Step Prescription for Self-Love
Self-love is an action not a state of feeling good.
Posted Mar 27, 2012
Self-love is a popular term today that gets tossed around in normal conversation. "You have
to love yourself more." "Why don't you love yourself?" "If you only loved yourself, this
wouldn't have happened to you." "You can't love another person until you love yourself first."
These are just a few of the self-love directives that we give or get to suggest a way to more
living fulfillment.

Self-love is important to living well. It influences who you pick for a mate, the image you
project at work, and how you cope with the problems in your life. It is so important to your
welfare that I want you to know how to bring more of it into your life.
