INTRODUCTION
The following portfolio contains all of the extra-classes
activities developed during the second semester of B.A in
English.

This portfolio is based in the last units from the book New
Headway Elementary and the first units from New Headway
Elementary Pre – Intermediate, according to the student’s
independent work time.

There are some activities downloaded from Internet (quizzes,

test), some links (videos, articles, news); movies, songs and
readings reviews, some complements from the subject
Phonetics and English Pronunciation and tales about my
daily tasks.

This is a reference to show my improvements and some

questions about English language skills.
TOPIC 1: PRESENT CONTINUOUS

Objective: Describe facts which happen in the moment, and ask about these
actions.

Are you learning English? Hmmmmm, are you

trying to learn about present continuous? Well,
click here and I’m going to explain you about
that! But you must give me a doughnut…

Last picture is a good example:

Homer is thinking (as rarely) about how he can help me, but
he’s wishing to eat a doughnut; then, Homer’s having a
good idea: he’s recommending me watch a video on
YouTube about present progressive which he’s explaining
that topic with some examples.
MY FACTS:

I like music, especially rock music, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s

songs. There is a song, one of my favorites songs, called
“Don’t stop me now” performed by Queen. That song’s
always getting up my self-esteem each time I listen to it.
There are some lines which describe my actions or my
feelings:

...“I’m a shooting star leaping through the sky

Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I’m a racing car passing by like lady Godiva
I’m gonna go go go
There's no stopping me”

“I’m burning through the sky yeah!

Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me mister Fahrenheit
I’m traveling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you”…

I recommend this song, I love it! In fact, I’m listening to this

song at the moment of make these pages. If you want to
listen to the song, click here, and enjoy it!
TOPIC 2: WHO’S, WHOSE AND POSSESSIVE
PRONOUNS

Objective: Make questions about people and their possessions, and use
possessive pronouns to answer them.
Whose is this?
Who’s it?

Who’s = “Who is” is used to ask about a person.

“Whose” is used to ask about the belonging of something.
Possessive pronouns are used to answer these questions; they
are also used to indicate someone owns something.

Who’s she? She’s my classmate.

Whose is that book? That’s the Mark’s book. That’s him.

MY FACTS:
I made a short quiz about who’s and whose; there were 20 questions,
and that was my score:

The following link is the page:

At least, I think I was very well in that quiz, but I thing I must to
improve more.
Then, I made another quiz about possessive pronouns, and that was
my score:

Well, no comments!!!!
TOPIC 3: WILL AND GOING TO

Objective: make sentences or express ideas about future actions.

These two auxiliaries are used to indicate some action in the

future.

Well, but, when

must I use will or
going to?

Will can be used to indicate a future action immediately or

a promise:

What a messy room!

I’ll clean it! (I’ll = I will)

Going to is used to indicate a possible future action or a

long-term action:

I’m going to clean my

room after school.

Will is used after personal pronoun or subject and before the

verb.

Going to is used after personal pronoun, but using the verb

to be.
MY FACTS:
I always watch news. In fact, I like watch news channels,
especially American and British broadcastings like CNN and
BBC News; I like watch the last one. One day, I watched a
program about Middle East conflict on BBC News: the host
told about some problems about intolerance between Jews
and Muslims, and the consequences in the world security.
I thought: “When will that conflict finish? I want a better
world for everybody, and everyone is trying to resolve his
differences, but that situation will change if they’ll respect
each other. I believe they are going to find solutions”.
I like analyze news, I’ll be a good English, but I want to be a
good reporter; so, I’ll read more newspapers, I’ll watch more
news channels, and I’m going to study journalism after my
B.A in English career. Why not?
I don’t have T.V cable, so I watch these channels by Internet.
I use an application called “TV-Fox” for Mozilla Firefox
browser. There are a lot of channels, but I only like watch
two of them: BBC and CNN.
WATCH BBC NEWS WATCH CNN
TOPIC 4: ADJECTIVES AND ARVERBS
Objective: Describe people, animals, things and actions.

Well, adjectives are words which describe a person, a thing

or an animal.

Dr. House is crazy (as usually) Eiffel Tower is tall (Allez

la France!)
Komodo dragon is poisonous (Who wants a pet like that?)
Adverbs describe actions or situations.

Vangelis plays
synthesizer well

The sculptor makes a

Statue carefully.

He was working;
suddenly, he was sleeping,
MY FACTS:
My town! My little
town! Alpujarra is a
town in the southeast
side of Tolima. It’s
calm, small and old
town. There are
some beautiful
places; its weather is
warm, sometimes is
very windy, but I
like it.

I remember when I was studying at the school: it was on a

big, green field; there were a lot of fruits trees, and fruits are
fresh and delicious. I ate tangerines; I get some of them
carefully from the tree because it was very tall. Some
teachers didn’t like to see students eating fruits, so we ate
them quickly and then threw the shells immediately.
After school, I went home slowly: my house was near
school, and I didn’t have hurry. My mom waited for me, and
then she always gave me a delicious lunch; I ate it, and then
I went to watch T.V with my dad. Sometimes we watched
funny cartoons, sometimes educational programs.
