To Whom It May Concern:
It is my distinct pleasure to recommend Kristen Tabesh for employment as a language arts and social studies
teacher in your school district. I have worked with Kristen as her Bowling Green State University Mentor;
observing her teach excellent English language arts and social studies lessons during her professional year.
This includes both methods and student teaching, from September 2017– April 27, 2018.
In addition to having excellent content knowledge of English language arts and social studies, Kristen plans
and executes engaging lessons that meet the developmental and educational needs of each of her students.
Using her knowledge of the students, she designs creative, standards-based lessons to reach each learner in
her class. Her lessons are scaffolded and the activities within each lesson build upon each other. This
technique provides multiple entry points into a lesson and helps students build confidence in their abilities
as they are constructing knowledge. Kristen is also skilled at helping students make connections between
their intuitive knowledge and what they are currently learning by using a cross-curricular approach and
having students address real-world problems.
Kristen has excellent knowledge of computer skills and how to incorporate technology into her classroom
daily. She is proficient in Google classroom, and all its various forms and tools. She also uses formative
assessment tools such as Kahoot, Quizlet, and Peardeck to monitor student progress and understanding.
Throughout her student teaching experience, she has become proficient with using these tools, and has
shared this knowledge with colleagues and her student teaching peers. Kristen has a collaborative spirit and
is excited about sharing ideas about ways to promote student achievement and build positive relationships
with students.
Kristen consistently reflects on her teaching practice with the goal of always getting better and more skilled
in everything she teaches. She is not afraid to ask for guidance and act on feedback from her mentors and
colleagues. I believe the qualities she possesses, being a self-reflective teacher, an excellent planner, her
knowledge and use of technology in her teaching, and her rapport with students and colleagues, make her an
excellent choice for employment as an ELA or social studies teacher in your school district. Kristen is
always upbeat and willing to go the extra mile in every aspect of her teaching and will make an excellent
teaching professional.
Please feel free to contact me with any further inquiries.
