THAUMATROPE IS THE OLDEST FORM OF ANIMATION
i - Allows students to expand definition of art
- Increases awareness of art within the student’s context
- Narrative format plays to students’ strengths in a new format
MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES
1.) Students will be able to trace and cut out a circle on day one by using a small cup. Their skills in
craftsmanship will continue to develop on day one by learning how to attach the dowel rod to the
cardstock in a clean manner.

2.) Students will create a thaumatrope that demonstrates skill and expression in the use of art
techniques and processes. They will be able to combine two separate ideas that are fun/important to
them into a successful animated idea by day three of the project.

3.) Students will provide examples of how they encounter art and artists in everyday life by
brainstorming ideas for their piece with their peers according to a worksheet.
