To Whom It Concerns:

It is my great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Michael Werlein. I have
known Michael ever since his junior year at Merced High School. In the time we have known each
other Michael has grown into a mature young man who is more than ready to transition to the next
stage of his life’s journey.

Michael has been a very good student At Merced High School. He challenged himself academically
and been very successful. He anticipates enrolling at Merced College after graduation, and he will also
be successful at that level. Michael sticks with things; he never gives up. There have been times in high
school when he could have retreated from a hard assignment or class, but he has never done that.

Michael is quiet, but he learns quickly. He has a mechanical inclination and is interested in pursuing
a career in areas that allow him to work with his hands. He has performed well in his academic classes
but he also enjoys skills training in things such as welding and auto mechanics. He has maintained an
after school job while in high school. He is reliable, responsible and trustworthy. All of these qualities are
valued in any environment.

Michael will be much missed by all his teachers and fellow students at Merced High School. His ready
smile, soft-spoken voice and patient demeanor will no longer grace our campus. We will be the poorer
for his absence. However, our loss will be another organization’s gain. Wherever Michael goes, he will
be an asset to the group. He works hard, learns quickly and gets along with everyone.
