TWS-RIP Efficiency Guide

By KorrLTD(TWS) and edited by Torn8do(RIP)

So you have been playing Army Men Strike, kicking ass and taking
names. You’ve managed to join a Corps of which to be proud. But have
you been as EFFICIENT as you could be? Efficiency isn’t going to get you
Top Commander on the board. But what it will do is stretch every minute
you invest in the game to maximize your efforts -and- your returns.

Simple steps can see you flourish. Going Hardcore can see that you
maximize every point of power you can out of each day, but you do risk a
higher chance of burnout.

SIMPLE STEPS

1. Login multiple times a day- three or four logins done spaced well
throughout your day will allow you to take advantage of naturally
occurring resources and reset many timers. Most timers operate off of
8, 12, and 24 hour blocks
2. Accomplish your daily 2300 points- the points awards leading up to
the 2300 points don’t seem all that worth it, but the finish line is the
goal. With some careful time budgeting and planning you can get
there nearly everyday.
3. Save large boosts (over one hour) for emergencies or days you can
get a lot done- speed ups are wasted if you lose more than a couple
of minutes or don’t have something equally important lined up right
after what you accelerate. This is a strategy game. Planning your
next move(s) is a crucial part to playing well
4. Contribute to your Corps- This may seem like some
upper-management BS, but the game gives more kickbacks to
players that just TRY TO HELP THEIR CORPS, regardless of the
actual overall impact in the grand scheme. Additionally, you joined
your Corps to be strong TOGETHER. It is a team effort. And the more
you help others out, the easier it is for them to help you.
5. Ask for help- search out a couple of knowledgeable players. If you
aren’t sure of this, go to the highly active ones. Even though they
might not know the answer, they can probably point you in the
direction of the guys that have a good handle on it. This is VERY
important: don’t be embarrassed about asking for this help. Chances
none of the assholes that you’re working with probably had anything
to do with writing the game and neither did you. Efficiency is about
maximizing the use of your time, and chasing down random things in
menus for an hour helps no one if you have other things in the game
you can accomplish.
6. Target the highest level things that you can reasonably fight- they’re
worth more resources and rewards. As long as you aren’t paying
much more for them (e.g. stamina use is flat regardless of what level
to you’re attacking ) it is better in the long run.
7. Take advantage of everything your Corps has to offer- Being in a
Corps confers bonuses on their territory and using/collecting their
resources. You automatically gather resources faster on Corps
territory, and faster still if it is the Corps resource building. And in the
Corps resource building, there is always space for you. If you feel that
the resource for the area is overlapping what you have available to
you, bring it up with a member that can weigh the options and
demolish it if he agrees with you.
8. Take part in events when you can- Not everyone out there is the
strongest or most well equipped to do everything, but there are
always going to be events that you can compete in and pick up at
least a little extra resources as far as trying. Try to prioritize and make
a little more time when you feel like you can give the rest of the map
a run for their money
9. Prioritize resources- If you have a large standing army, plastic is
going to be KEY for you to keep going. If you don’t have the plastic,
then they can’t deploy. A trick (straight from Torn8do) is that they can
be sheltered or garrisoned in the Corps Command to alleviate
(remove) some of this upkeep.
“Just don’t forget where they are” -Torn8do Me, personally, I happen
to be a loser that stays always gathering plastic. Gold is a TERRIBLE
investment to collect unless you actually NEED gold to complete your
daily or get a little extra something something. 500k plastic or paint
costs 1,200 gold to buy. You can harvest more plastic or paint in 12
hours at ANY level where as to harvest enough gold to buy that
would be in excess of 11 DAYS. It is hard to justify knowing those
numbers.
10. If you’re going to make donations (pay-to-win) you’re better off
going with predictable things like resources and speed-ups than
anything else- I have it on good authority that those Glory Officers are
nice, but hard to enhance to really get anywhere. Yes, you can
upgrade them and get as many stars as your heart desires with no
more effort than one of the lower officers. But you can’t increase their
rank easily without spending over $1000 dollars, and ranking up an
officer is where they REALLY SHINE.
11. Be curious- If you have all your timers ticking off, and you’re well
on the way to raking in the rewards for your day’s daily, your stamina
is nearly (or completely) empty, and your guys are marching to hit
something or loading supplies into trucks… browse the parts of the
game that you are unfamiliar with. You have nothing better to do it
seems, so learning and understanding will help you kick more ass.
Who knows, you might even be able to tell me to add something in
here.
12. Know how to use chat- conveying something that is important now,
but not for later, you should use Corps chat. For something (like this)
that can be pertinent on multiple occasions should go in PM (personal
messages, direct messages, or message-all.) it is all about how
people need to be aware and access information and how long it is
relevant.
13. Don’t forget to spend your more obscure resources- spending your
silver, corps honor, corps supplies, corp technology, and the like in
their respective areas can help you or everyone out! If these words
are foreign to you, you may be sitting on a HUGE stockpile! If you
need more help just send me a PM or hit up one of the really
successful (powerful) guys.

HARDCORE
This section isn’t faint of heart. This is for the hardcore nerds out
there -like me- that just want to be the goddamn best (whether you’re
opening your wallet or not.) If you’re not itching to see what is next, get
ready to roll your eyes at how anal some of us can be.
1. Prioritize upgrading your chopper, air force command center, nexus,
joint command, hospitals, plastic mold, mold factory and (of course)
your HQ- the chopper will unlock more areas for rare supplies (and
officer crates- initially.) Your nexus and joint command both increase
the effectiveness of your fellow Corps members lending hands (we
are stronger together.) Plastic Molds being fully upgraded helps to
stave off the parasitic draw of your standing army. Hospitals allow
you to save more of your troops when defending (wounded troops
that overflow your available space in hospitals turn into dead troops.
Dead troops are lost.) And finally, mold factories reduce the training
time for ALL troops while increasing the max number that you can
train at a given time. With 2 x lvl 10, 1 x lvl 11, 4 x lvl 12, and 1 x 14
(8 total) i have a time reduction of 54% and 7710 training cap. Yeah.
2. Figure out your needs with your resource plots- if you have an
abundance of some things and are hurting in other areas, you can
store those buildings currently on the plots in your bank and build
something else. They retain their levels but DO NOT CONTRIBUTE
TO ANYTHING WHATSOEVER WHEN STORED. Yeah. Not going
to game the system by putting all your paint bottles away.
3. Try to line up your timers on multiple things when you can- setting
everything to near your free build time so that you can add your
soldiers to the fight right after you start the next building upgrade or
research queue is a GREAT way to maximize efficiency. It isn’t all
about how many times you come back but about how much you can
do when you can. You do still have a life to live outside of this game.
4. Set reminders on your calendars for long away things- events you
plan to participate in, shielded objectives you want to take a shot at,
set an alarm (or if more appropriate a “meeting” on your calendar)
with enough time that you can scope things out and move around all
your resources. But don’t set it so far in advance that you give
yourself a chance to space-out or get distracted.
5. VIP it up when you’re doing some serious work- if you’re putting in
some legit action, burning tons of speed-ups, collecting mad
resources, and the like… then utilize appropriate passive boosts that
enhance your progress further. Having VIP active increases the
amount of awesome stuff you have going on. Check your specific
level of VIP to have an idea of what you stand to gain (or lose) should
you be on the wrong side of having it chug you out exxxtra goodies.
6. The game gives you the greatest kickbacks not too long after reset- it
is set up to keep you the most active around the time that most
9-5’ers are going have wound down and be looking to do anything
more than just numbly stare at a screen. Capitalize on this time
period by harvesting as many small explorer gifts as you can and
doing your short burst timers during this time. Don’t forget to check in
and see if there are any plans or changes and if you can help with
anything either.
7. When it comes to marches, your specific goal matters in your troop
selection- I haven’t noticed anything significant about the two troop
types vehicles and helicopters, but the artillery has the highest load
(for collecting resources) further enhanced by buffs and bonuses;
Artillery also cannot be suppressed in PvP! If you’re looking to
perform fast strikes, the commandos have the highest marching
speed. And remember for attacking the energy devices- you only
need 1 troop to do maximum damage.
8. DEF and Troops- Your (or their) DEF emplacements have specific
effects. Check info for a better idea of how the algorithm works, but
otherwise you can see which ones will have an effect on certain
troops. You can find what they have by scouting. Then, send the
most troops for their LEAST effective defense (lowest level or lowest
number) and then keep prioritizing down.
9. Your HQ sets your initial limitation- You can’t take any buildings past
it. So if you’re looking to climb quick, prioritize bumping that up a
couple of levels and then play everything else out to catch up. But
don’t waste too much time not doing other things.

Now, this guide is supposed to help you take out a lot of the
guesswork and make the climb easier (and maybe even faster) on you. The
most important thing to take away from any of this when you go back to
playing: have fun! This is still a game, and there is plenty of stuff to do
aside from being efficient. So plot away in private messages, and troll on
the Corps or All Chat, make some friends or arch-enemies, but by all
means- LET’S ALL HAVE FUN TOGETHER AND KICK SOME ASS!!
