Post-Lesson Reflection Guide

This document provides a template for students to reflect on a lesson they taught, with prompts to evaluate their lesson plan, teaching skills, use of language, and plans for future lessons. Students are asked to analyze their strengths and weaknesses, supported by evidence from their lesson. The reflection template encourages students to consider issues like the effectiveness of their lesson plan, the appropriateness of their teaching techniques for learners, how students reacted, and how the student can improve for future lessons.

Supervised and Assessed Teaching # ____

Post lesson reflection

After receiving feedback from your tutor, write a brief summary of your own
evaluation of the lesson taught. Analyse your weaknesses and strengths and
provide evidence to support your comments and conclusions.

1. Your lesson plan

2. Your teaching skills

3. Your use of the language

4. Actions for future lessons

You can use the following questions to help you reflect on your lesson:

 What problems did you have planning your lesson?

 Now that you have taught it, what changes would you make to the plan?
 How useful was your lesson plan in helping you and your students achieve the
aims/objectives set for the given lesson? Reflect on the nature of the activities
designed and the sequencing of these.
 Were your teaching techniques appropriate for your learners? How do you
know?
 How did students react to your lesson/activities/teaching?
 What did you learn about your students from teaching this lesson?
 Were your teaching techniques appropriate for your learners? Think of the
setting up of activities, the pace of the lesson and the involvement of students in
class.
 How would you evaluate your use of the language in this lesson in relation to
your students’ understanding of the learning objectives?
 Did you create enough opportunities for your learners to develop their language
skills or linguistic competence? What evidence is there of this?
 What did you like and dislike most about the lesson? Why?
 What future actions do you plan to implement in your teaching and planning?
