I was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina.

At the age of 18, I

moved to Durham to attend North Carolina Central University.
While attending North Carolina Central University, I met my
husband Brandon. I graduated from North Carolina Central
University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Family and
Consumer Science with a Concentration in Child Development
and Family Relations. I started my teaching career in 2002 at
Fayetteville Street Lab School. I married Brandon in 2005, and in
2006 I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill with a Master’s degree in Education (K-12 Literacy). In 2007,
Brandon Jr was born, and in 2013 we welcomed Justin. In my
spare time, I enjoy traveling, taking tons of pictures of my boys,
and car karaoke sessions with my entire family.
