Letter R

The document summarizes two lesson plans about teaching the /r/ sound to KG2 students. It describes the 24 students and use of PowerPoint, videos, and activities to engage them. One challenge was some students not wanting to attend. The lesson plans focused on writing learning objectives related to the MOE curriculum and assessing if they were achieved. Students struggled with writing the letter r but enjoyed the craft activities. Explaining the difference between the sound and letter name was an effective part of the lesson.

Before writing the lesson plan documentation and reflection, I will summarize my two lesson

plan shortly. Firstly, I will describe a general profile of the learners was that they were 24

students, KG2 level. Moreover, the two topics that I will reflect on them is /r/ sound. In this

lesson, I use the different type of teaching, and the kind of teaching was PowerPoint

Presentation, videos, and various types of activities. The anticipated problems that I faced in this

lesson is some of the students in our class not be willing to attend, so the extension idea is

engaging the students in the activities by catch student’s attention.

I was doing /r/ sound lesson for the English class. At first I started to write a Learning

objective of this lesson that related to Ministry of Education (MOE) curriculum, and the learning

objectives as we know that is very important in the lesson plan, it helps us as a teacher to know

our goals in this lesson. According to the Bloom's Taxonomy the learning objectives “is a

convenient way to describe the degree to which we want our students to understand and use

concepts” (Bloom's Taxonomy, n.d.). And by the end of the lesson we can say if I achieve these

goals or not. The main problem in this lesson of /r/ sound the I didn’t explain very well of how to

write the letter g, and the students faced difficulties when I gave them to write a letter r in a

gumball. They had fun with this activities because through the observation I noticed that the

students prefer the craft activities more than any activities. The things that I did it very well and

the students understand it is when I explain the difference between the sound, and the name of

the letter, I assessed them by asking them what the sound is, and what the name of this letter.
