some advice
James Victore Rules
design principles
“Don’t decorate crap” and “Sometimes
the wrongest type choice is the best type
choice.”
In the end how creative and unique your
creation is comes down to you.
Balance - The sizes of things in
a design (large shapes and small

stability, and structure to a design.
“Good design is as little design as possible” Proximity - Creates relationships
Keep the message clear and simple
If there is something you want to stand out,
between elements, visually
make it clear. connecting them.
Alignment - Order and organization,

flats
original

experience
The project was fun opportunity to try more things out in
Photoshop outside of what I normally used it for. When I was
coloring the flats I used pastel rainbow theme but when I colored it
in the final I switched the brighter colors out for cooler ones (blues,
greens, and purples).
channels vs layers
In Photoshop, channels are used to store the image’s color
information. Layers act like stacked sheets of paper that add up to
make the image.

my work
14
experience
The project and its rules were confusing so there was a lot of
experimenting to do. Overall, the project was fun because of how
different each image would appear over the face. There would always be
something new to adjustment, giving each image their own uniqueness. I
used images of landscapes in my work because I felt they looked better
than an object or organism because they had many focuses instead of
one, giving lots of work space.

cinemagraphs
Project 5
16
experience
Overall it had been a really simple process. The video I chose
for the cinemagraph was an endless loop of me scribbling on
a heart I drew on my whiteboard. A small challenge was the
rocky video. The final gif played really quickly but
otherwise it was really fun.

individual project
a lonely whale spirit
In my individual project I worked with Adobe Animate. The whale in
the animation is outlined in white, not colored, with sparkles around
it, this represented the “spirit” of the whale. The background is a simple
night sky with a whale in the moon. The main purpose of this project
was to practice animation and try out Animate, hence the simple
drawings.
