Steps: -
Step1: Install Windows Server 2012. Change the name of the server. Install Active Directory
Domain Controller and .NET Framework 3.5 on the server.
Step2: Install SQL Server 2012.
Step3: Install Windows ADK.
Only install the ACT, Deployment Tools and Windows PE components of ADK
Step 4: Install Virtual Machine Manager Component.
Install VMM Management Server and the VMM Console. Install the DB to the local MSSQL
instance.
Open Virtual Machine Manager.
Click on VMs tab.
Add Feature Hyper-V on Windows Server machine:
Click Next.
Click Next.
Select Hyper-V Feature and Click Next..
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Install.
Feature Installation.
Click Close.
 Step5: Add Hyper-V Feature.
 Step6: Install 2 Hyper-V Server. Add them to Hyper-V Manager of the main server.
 Step7: Managing Host and Host Group
VMM allows us to create logical groups of connected virtualization Servers called as Host
Groups.
Click on Fabric Resource Tab.
To add Hyper V machines, select Add Hyper-V Hosts and Clusters option
The HyperV servers need to be joined to the domain.
Create a new ‘Run As’ account with the Domain Admin credentials. Here have created VMM
Administrator.
Click on Create Run As Account.
Provide User Credential and Click ok
Select the newly created account
Select use an Existing Run As Account and Click Next.
      Specify partial or the entire server names to add. We will be adding SCHyperV1 and
      SCHyperV2
Select the HyperV servers to add to the VMM console and to deploy the VMM Agent on.
Choose the group to assign the servers to. The hosts are now being added to the VMM
Console.
 Step8: Connecting to Hyper-V and deploying VMs.
 Click on VM and Services tab and then click ‘Create Virtual Machine’
You can create a Blank virtual hard drive based VM or use a pre-created VHD file for it
Specify the VM name.
Configure the VM as needed. Select Hyper-V under Cloud Capability
Choose the Host Group where the VM would be deployed.
Choose a Hyper-V server in the host group to deploy the VM onto. VMM will assign ratings to
each of the servers depending on various factors.
Configure the networks of the VM
Select an action and operating system and click Next.
It will show job status.
VM has been deployed to the Hyper-V host in a Host Group.
Step 9: Performing Live Migration.
(Migration has to be performed with the VM running. Depending on the size of the allocated
HDD space of the VM the migration will take some time)
Right click on a virtual machine and select Migrate Virtual Machine.
Select the destination server. We are migrating from HyperV1 to HyperV2.
Configure the networks accordingly
Click Move.
It will show job status
Step 10: Creating a Virtual Machine and Modifying Its Properties.
      Enter a name and description, and Operating System
Step 11: Cloning a Virtual Machine
To clone a VM, right click on it and select Create -> Clone option.
Give the VM a name, eg. : VM Clone.
Configure the destination of the clone.
The cloned VM will now be visible inside the VM list
Step 12: Creating a Hyper-V Failover Cluster
Install the Failover Clustering role from Add roles and features onto each node of the cluster
[SCHyperV1 and SCHyperV2].
Open Failover Cluster Manager -> Create Cluster
Select the nodes which will be part of the cluster
The cluster needs to be assigned a name and an IP Address
Step 13: Managing a Hyper-V Failover Cluster
In the failover cluster, we will be configuring the cluster with a role [Cluster for VM].

Right click on Cloud and select Create Cloud. App-Controller can only deploy VMs and
Services to Clouds.
  Give the cloud a name and a description.
     Allocate the resources
Select a logical network and click Next.
Click Next.
 Assign Port based profiles as needed
Browse and select the path of the VMM Library [MSSCVMMLibrary]
      You can limit the total resources available to the cloud [If the Hosts combined have
      16GB RAM, you can assign 4GB RAM to the cloud, etc]
Select following option and Click Next.
 Click Finish.
Create new cloud successfully.
Click on VMs tab.
   1. Configuring App Controller
Now install the silver light on machine
Browse to the AC website [It is installed on the machine running AppContoller and it will be
in the form of https://machinename.domainname.
Login with the domain account
To add a connection to the SCVMM server, go to Settings -> Connections -> Connect
-> SCVMM
  2. Creating a Service Template
Go into Library -> Templates and click on Create Service Template
      Select the Service Architecture and give it a name
Configure the service. If you have a VM template, you can drag and drop the VM
template onto the service machines
Save and validate the template
  3. Deploying a Service and Updating a Service
      Template Go to Services -> Deploy
Click on Select Template and select the created Service Template
Click on Select Template and select the created Service Template
Configure the Service instance and give it a Service name
Configure the machine tier and give the machine names.
Click on deploy to deploy the services
The Service successfully deployed

1. Deploying a new virtual machine.
Create a template for the VM, by going to Library -> Create VM Template
Use an existing virtual hard disk and select a hard disk
Give the VM a name and description
Configure the VM hardware
 Click Next.
Click create option.
VM Template created.
After creating a template, you can now deploy the template from App-Controller.
Click on Virtual Machines -> Deploy
Click on Configure and choose the cloud and then VM template
Select the VM template that was created
Select the VM template that was created Configure the VM Name
The deployed VM will now show up in the Virtual Machines list.
2. Adding Virtual Hard Disks and integrating it with VMs
You can create VHD’s by going into Server Manager -> Tools -> Computer Management Right click on
Disk Management and select Create VHD
       Browse for the storage location and assign a size. Fixed size will allocate the defined
       space at that instant while dynamically allocated size will allocate the space as the
       volume grows
Detach the VHD file
In the VMM console, go into Library and expand to the VHD folder under Library
Servers. Click
import Physical resources
Add Resource and select the .VHD file which was created. In Library server select the
VHD folder of the library server

Make sure that there is a free hard disk connected to the DPM Server. This will be used for
taking the backups. You can create a new HDD in VMware. This HDD should be around
20GB in size and should have unallocated, non-partitioned space.
 Initialize the hard disk as GPT
 In DPM Console, go to Management ->
Disks and add the disk. Select the disk with the maximum free space on the left and add it to the
storage pool on the right.
Click Add.
On the server whose Database will be backed up, create a new database and create a table
in it. We are using a DB called DemoDB having a table Students having two columns for
name and roll no.
Make sure the Security-> Logins-> NT Authority \ SYSTEM and Domain\User
accounts have sysdba role applied else backup will fail.
Creating a new protection group from the Protection workspace.
Before a server can be backed up, the DPM agent needs to be installed on that server. We
will be taking the backup of the DemoDB on the SOrc server hence the agent is being
installed on that server.
Select the server to install the agent on.
Provide the domain admin credentials.
Click Next.
Click Close.
To create a protection group, go to the Protection tab and click New.
     We will be doing a backup of data from a server
Browse and select the DemoDB we created
Name the protection group
Specify the retention period and synch frequency
The Disk Space Allocated will change according to the frequency and Retention range.
Click Next.
Click Close.
   Once the group has been created, it will show with a Green OK
Performing a recovery from the Recovery workspace.
Insert a row of data into the database. So now the DB has more data before the Protection
Group was created. We will be doing a restore. So the newly added data will not be visible
after the restore and the DB will only show the data present when the Protection Group was
created
      To perform a recovery, go to the recovery tab and select the data in the left pane.
Select the recovery time and click recover
Select Recover to original instance of database
Click Recover to begin the recovery
Once the recovery is successful, run the select query on the database

1. Adding new network devices to the Operations Manager console.
Open XIAN on a machine on the network and click Add. Select CISCO 2621
Click next and Map it to an IP Address [Eg 10.0.0.170]
Select the community string [v1 or v2]
In SCOM, Select Network Devices in the Discovery Wizard
Enter a name for the discovery rule, select the management server
 Explicit discovery will allow you to manually specify the network devices to monitor, while
 Recursive will perform a discovery of devices connected to the device you specify
Create a run as account and specify the SNMP community string [Mostly ‘public’]
Click on Add and specify the details of the network device – IP Address, SNMP version, Port
Number.
Provide IP address and Click Ok.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Create.
In the next step the network discovery will start. Network discovery will take some time
[Around 5-10 minutes] for all counter information to be populated
  Network device detected and displayed in the Network Management -> Network devices screen
2. Configuring and Monitoring hardware, servers, virtual machines, etc.
 To perform the discovery of servers, start the discovery wizard from Administration
Specify advanced discovery.
Click on configure and give the computer name to perform the discovery on
Give the domain admin credentials
Click Next.
Select the Agent to be used – Agents or Agentless
Click Close.
The server should show up as Healthy in the device managed screen.
3. Implementing Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager
   Agents
The agent heartbeat interval can be configured from the settings screen
      Go to C:\Program Files \ System Center 2012\ Operations
      Manager\ Server\ Agent Management\ and copy the AMD64 folder
      to the machine on which you will be doing Performance Monitoring and run
      the setup from the folder over there.
      That device will show up under Pending Device Management
      4. Configuring Operations Manager Monitoring Components
      Go to Administration - > Device Managed and right click on a device name. Open will
      have various options
Event View
This shows us the various events generated in the event log of the monitored machine
State View
Shows us the state and state changes of the agent
Performance View
Allows us to plot various performance based metrics [CPU Utilization, Port Usage, etc]
across the graph
Diagram View
Shows a diagrammatic view of connections to the machine in an internal representation
Health Explorer
Let’s us view issues with the health of the machine. It also specifies the cause and how to solve
the issue

5. Configuring Operations Manager Integration with System Center
   2012 R2 Virtual Machine Manager (VMM)
 In VMM go to Settings -> System Center Settings -> Operations Manager
 Specify the server and domain credentials to use [You can use the previously created
 VMM Admin Run as Account]
Specify the Operation Manager Admin credentials
Click Finish

1. Reviewing a critical alert for a Virtual Machine Manager server and
assigning an alert. Go into Authoring and expand Management Pack Objects. Click on
Scope and type Logical Disk and tick mark on Windows Server 2012 Logical Disk
Expand Entity Health -> Availability -> Windows Server 2012 Logical Disk Free Space. Right
click on Server 2012 and choose override -> override the monitor -> For all objects of class
Windows Server 2012 Logical Disk
Tick mark the options in the override properties. Change the threshold values for Critical
and warning values.
2. Integrating Advisor with Operations Manager
 Go to Administration -> System Center Advisor and click on Register to Advisor Service
 Select Microsoft
Select Microsoft Account
Enter your Microsoft details
Give a name for the Advisor account and Click Next.
Click Create.
Computers need to be added to be monitored to SA by using the Add Computer Group
option
Click on Search, Choose the Computers and click Add
Computers will be visible under the Advisor Managed section

After installation of SCSM we have to set Encryption backup key Open Encryption Key backup
window and Click Next.

Go to Work Items -> Incident Management
   Create a new incident and fill up the respective fields
2. Configuring the settings for an incident and reviewing an incident that has been
   closed
  Go to Administration pane -> Settings -> Incident settings
Create Service catalog->Create Request offering
Click Next.
Select template as a Service Request.
Select Default Service Request and Click Ok.
Click Next.

Select Offering status Published and browse for Offering owner and click Next.
Click Create.

Create Service Request.
Select a Request Template. If a Service Request Template is not available it needs to
be created by going to Library -> Service Catalog -> Request Offerings / Service

2. Configuring the settings for an incident and reviewing an incident that has been closed
Go to Administration pane -> Settings -> Incident settings
Modify the incident settings as desired.
To close the incident, it first needs to be resolved and then closed.
Change Incident Status -> Resolve and then, Change Incident Status -> Close
After the incident has been closed, its status will be reflected in the list. Just double
click on it to view the task
Incident Resolved.
Close incident and Click OK and incident will be closed.

Open SCOM andVMware vSphere support isn’t inbuilt and hence the Integration Pack
needs to be Registered and Deployed. This is done via the Deployment rManager.
Click Next.
Select Add.
Select the SC Integration Pack for VMware vSphere.
Click Next.

After Registration, now we need to Deploy the IP to the local ORC server [Local host]

1. Creating runbook that automates a process relating to VMware vSphere
Once the IP has been installed, we can configure the vSphere options in RunBook
Designer.
Click ok.
Click Finish.
Right click on CMList and select properties.
The ESXI Server is running on 10.0.0.20 with Username root and password root123
Get VM List:
If need be create a filter. Here have created a filter to pass information only of VM’s
having ‘demo’ in their name to the next step
Click Finish.
Get VM Status:
To get the data passed on previous activity, we need to subscribe to the published data.
Click Finish.
Start VM .
Select VM Path and click ok.
Click Finish.
Create VM:
First four properties are filled by clicking on the … button. Those properties are
provided by vSphere
Network (NIC) takes a string for the name of the LAN card (Ethernet)
Click on RunBook Tester.
The progress of the Runbook activities can also be viewed if vSphere client.
Created VM configuration in summary should match the values given in Create VM
Activity.
