The Eckardt Score

The Eckardt Score is used to assess the severity of achalasia based on symptoms and signs, with higher scores indicating greater severity. It assigns points from 0-3 for recent weight loss, frequency of dysphagia, chest pain, and regurgitation, with the total score being the sum of the individual ratings. Careful interviews and modern diagnostic methods allow for early diagnosis and treatment initiation of achalasia.
