Directions to Wilderness School near Sandy Beach

1. Take Villeneuve Road (also known as secondary hwy. 633) west to the
roundabout at Hwy. 44. From Villeneuve Road & Hogan Rd. to stop sign at hwy.
44 is approx. 9.4 km.

2. At roundabout at Hwy. 44 turn right (north) and go to 4 way stop at Hwy. 44 &
Hwy. 37 (approx. 6.6 km.). From stop sign proceed straight (north) approx. 10
km. to Secondary Hwy. 642 (also known as Twp. Rd. 560). There will be a sign
indicating Sandy Beach prior to reaching Hwy. 642. It will indicate that to reach
Sandy Beach you need to turn left.

3. Turn left (west) on Hwy. 642 and travel approx. 16 km to Range Rd. 13. It is
about 13 km from Hwy. 44 to the store at Sandy Beach and 3 km from the store to
Rge Rd. 13.

4. At Rge Rd 13 turn right (north) and proceed approx. 3 km to the 4 way stop at
Twp. Rd. 562. At the stop sign you should look just slightly to your left (off
straight ahead) and you should see a white Quonset building.

5. At Twp. Rd. 562 turn left (west) and travel about .5 km to the first driveway on
your right. On the left side of the driveway is a sign indicating this is the original
site of the Stettin School on right side of driveway is address 1310 Twp. Rd 562
(do not use this address in GPS as it doesn’t take you to this location. The grass
at the driveway is cut and so is the grass leading from the driveway.

6. Turn right into this driveway and follow the road (trail) which winds through the
trees till you come to the garden, trailer and Quonset.

OR

Take Hwy. 2 north from St. Albert to Morinville then take Hwy. 642 west toward Sandy
Beach, when you reach stop sign at Hwy. 44 continue west on Hwy. 642 following
directions from 3 through 6 above.

GPS

For the city put in Lac Ste Anne County and you want the intersection of Range Road 13
and Township Road 562. From Hwy. 44 it will likely show you travelling west on
Township Road 560 which I believe is the same as Hwy. 642. When you arrive at
intersection of Rge Rd. 13 and Twp Rd. 562 follow directions in 5 and 6 above.

The coordinates as displayed on my GPS are N53.83602 W114.08088 so these can be


used with the GPS or the information just above. Since these coordinates are off the road
you will need to follow details in 5 and 6 above.
