Audience Analysis

A. The members of the audience are college students with ages ranging from 16-25,
mostly on the third year.

B. This audience belongs to the generation of “millennials”, which means visual learning
is more conducive than auditory learning and the attention span is significantly lower
compared to listeners belonging to previous generations.

C. As young adults, this audience is aware of the timely societal issues and problems. The
approach should also be more professional and mature.

D. As the audience belongs to an educational institution that uses English as its standard
language for learning, Formal English shall be the language used in delivering the
speech.

II. Purpose/Purposes.

The primary purposes of my speech are to give sufficient information and provide a
healthy discourse on the subject matter. The speech should not only be informative but
also persuasive. The speaker should present facts and information and, thereafter, take a
stand and try to convince the audience why such stand should be favored. Actively
participating on the subject matter (taking a stand or position when there are two sides) is
better than being a passive speaker.

III. Topics:

1. White-collar crimes vs. blue-collar crimes (dichotomy of economy and crime)

2. Human rights vs. legal system
3. Competence/incompetence of Philippine Cinema
4. Freedom of Expression vs. Police Power of the State
5. Intelligence: environmental or genetic

IV. Bibliography

1. Philippine Supreme Court database <sc.judiciary.gov.ph>

2. JSTOR academic journals and online library <www.jstor.org>
3. LexisNexis online academic research database <www.lexisnexis.com/en-us>
