The Festival Holi, A Festival With Out Barriers Sandra Patricia Castelblanco Quincoz. Angie Lorena Gutiérrez Quintero

Holi is a spring festival celebrated mainly in India that involves throwing brightly colored powders and water at each other to celebrate the arrival of spring. The festival honors stories from Hindu mythology, such as a god saving a devotee from being burned and a god painting his lover with colors so she would love him. The colored powders used - red, blue, yellow, and green - symbolize love, fertility, and the arrival of spring. Participants dress in white cotton clothes that are then colored during celebrations, which include dancing and throwing powders regardless of religion, status or differences. The festival aims to show that all people are equal and can celebrate love and happiness together.
