Answer the following questions in the space provided.

1) What are the three major steps in information flow?

The three major steps are the input unit - processing unit - output unit.

2) CPU is an acronym. What does it stand for?

It stands for central processing unit.

3) Explain briefly the role of the input unit.

The input unit is responsible for gathering the information that is given to
the computer to solve problems.

4) Explain briefly the role of the CPU.

The CPU is responsible for solving (or processing) the problem given to the
computer.

5) Explain briefly the role of the output unit.

The output unit is responsible to output the result of the solution of a


problem.

6) Explain briefly the role of the memory unit.

The memory unit is responsible to store the instruction of programs running


on the computer.
7) What is software?

A software is an important part of the computer that can’t be touched. It is


also the set of instructions that controls the hardware.

8) What is hardware?

A hardware consists of the physical components that can be touched. For


examples: keyboard, monitor, processor, hard disk, memory, etc.
