Gun Control

This document discusses the debate around gun control in the United States. It touches on several key points of contention: whether stricter gun laws are needed to reduce gun violence and crime, the interpretation of the Second Amendment right to bear arms, and the argument that American society has changed significantly since the 18th century in ways that warrant reconsidering gun ownership policies. Both advocates for and against stricter gun control laws provide perspectives, but the document ultimately comes down in favor of stronger regulation, arguing it is necessary for public safety given the prevalence of gun violence in modern American society.

Gun control

Omar Bush

With the Second Amendment giving American citizens the rights to bear arms, and

approximately fifty percent of Americans owning some form of a firearm, issues

involving the ownership and possession of guns have led to heated debates in

American society. These problem falls into a category of gun control. Most American

citizen feels like we need to have more gun restriction to lower the crime rate with fire

arms involved. Gun experts would say different has it will imposed on the Second

Amendment rights. The outcome and extent of gun control has strong political

implications to today meaning of the amendment as it has a different meaning during

the 1700’s than in today modern society. Both side have great points on weather gun

control should be stricter or lineate on these gun restrictions. Based on the numbers of

crimes that are involved with firearms, the American society needs to impose stronger

gun regulation.

The American people have shown a giant interest in owning a gun. With the laws

allowing citizens of the United States to own and shoot guns. Majority of citizens have

took this right to their own advantage and defend this when anyone tries to impose upon

that right. Now think why people would try to defend something that cause more harm

than good. For this reason gun control is necessary for today society. Gun control will

play a major part in reducing the action that many people perform with guns.

Considering this why must gun play a role in everyday lives of people in Americans as it

serve no real propose. With stricter gun control the number of accidental shooting will

drop dramatically especially with children.

Anti-gun control advocates provide their strongest argument by sticking to the United

States Constitution. They claim regulating guns is an infringement on their rights as

American citizens because they read the Second Amendment as giving them the right

to bear arms. The framers of the Constitution could never had seen how the American

society has protruded to it violence state. The anti–gun activists counter this by giving

the need for self-defense from criminals along with the threat of tyranny, it is their

Constitutional right to form a militia and protect themselves. However, in one case the

Supreme Court ruled that the National Guard is the militia spoken of in the Constitution,

therefore the right to own guns does not lie with individual citizens. Gun control for the

citizens own security is one way they try to use it on their own behalf; however, those

who attempt to use their guns in self-defense are often ineffective, and are 8 times more

likely to be killed than those who do not make any effort to defend themselves. Another

study has shown that “a firearm in the home is 43 times more likely to be used for

suicide or a murder than self-defense.” The way people use guns are the way it is

stated in the constitution but people well misuse this right of owning a gun.

The second amendment is not clear on who get the right to bear arms so this empowers

the gun control debate. If the Amendment were more clear one way or the other, “guns

are for militias only,” or “guns are for the individuals,” laws and regulations would be

much easier to make. Since, this is not the reason it is harder for the government to

male laws and rules about firearms. There was one case making its way through the

federal court system involves a man who was arrested for possessing a gun while under

a restraining order. The judge had to adjure the court because it had violated the man

right to bear arms. This case has the chance to make it to the Supreme Court, and it will

force them to side on the one side or the other. If they uphold the decision then it will

give the individual the right to bear arms, if they overturn the decision then they will

have to define and limit the law. As this will help by answering who does have the right

to bear arms.

Most people who are gun experts say that taking way guns is of violation of the second

amendment. Some people would that they use firearms to go hunting and shooting

down the range. Will if the need to go hunting is need they should use a cross bow for

the sport because it is harder to hit the trophy because using a gun is more like cheating

cause the animal doesn’t have a chance to evade the bullet. Some say what happen if

there a case where they need to defend themselves from an attacker. Their only going

to be a few people who use a gun to actually defend them self from an attack most

other people would accidental shoot someone or even worst their children would get a

hold on the firearm and shoot their self without knowing. Also in the amendment that

they have the right to use arms if they are going to have it for a militia. The National

Guard is the militia of the United States and so that the individual does not have a need

to own a firearm. The opposing side brings up some well argued topics but the need for

fire arms in today society should be less than in the 1700’s society.

Gun control is essential in today society. With more crimes and murder being committed

the need of gun control is shown to be needed. From this persuade the public to go and

request a stronger restriction on firearms as they cause more problems to the modern

world. Gun restrictions are needed to live a good life with no problems.
