Students Organize Novi Sad

Novi Sad – The students of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the
Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad have presented their point of view of micro
locations in the city area, whose common characteristic would be pleasant,
recognizable units, enriched with warm, natural materials with plenty of greenery. An
unusual task was set to them by the Institute for Citi Construction (ZIG), who listed
about hundred sites with the abandoned interstate spaces in the city and the
surroundings. It called the Faculty for cooperation, and we can see the solutions these
days in the Culture Centre.
– In the summer semester, a hundred students of the fourth year have participated in
the project within three subjects – Principles of Universal Design, Principles of
Sustainable Development in Architecture and Principles of Sustainable Development in
Urban Planning. Students have shown how small urban ambiences can be transformed
into spaces where people would spend as much time as possible, feel them as theirs
and identify with them – says the head of the Department of Architecture and Urban
Planning, Prof. Dr. Darko Reba.
1. What are the differences in the use of punctuation between English and Serbian?
Generally talking, the use of commas is wider in English than in Serbian, but the main
differences – regarding the comma – would be the fact that in English we must write a
comma to mark a non-defining relative clause or after some linking words such as
“and”. Also, we don’t write any full stop when referring to dates as in we do in Serbian.
2. Check how do we write academic titles in English.
Academic titles in English should be written in capital letters, underlined and with a
centred alignment.
3. Which adjectives are used to describe “uredan” and “zapušten”?
Тhe Serbian word “zapušten” can be translated as “abandoned”.
4. How would you define/explain “ambijent”?
In this context, “ambijent” could be translated as “ambience”, as the physical location
with which those people in the text can identify and feel as theirs.
In the Faculty of Technical Sciences, but also in the city administration, they are more
than satisfied with the solutions of the students of Novi Sad. In the busiest Bulevar
Slobođenja, the covered and illuminated bus station could be opened; the space in
Maksima Gorkog 10-12 is planned to become the Agora of Novi Sad; the central resorts
in the National Front and in Stražilovski would go to the trees; the garages in Miloš
Bajić would get replanted with lianas; and the lighting next to hotel ‘Vojvodina’ would
automatically be strengthed so that the number of people in the square would
increase.
In Petrovaradin, in the block 8, ‘benches’ for resting pomerale would move (join and
split) by rail, which would allow to get bigger groups, but also the desired eight. The
square of Thesssaloniki would have to get as well as a new face by volunteers in Kovilj.
– This is the beginning of a big action of the revival of abandoned places with semi-
circular objects and giant wildfires, and one of the few examples where the academic
community participates in the solutions of the current problems in the city. We hope
that investors will have hearing of the ideas of the young experts – says the member of
