Music Teachers' Scarborough Fair Guide

This folk song describes a man asking his love to complete tasks to prove her love for him before he will agree to marry her. He asks her to pick parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme and make him a cambric shirt without any seams or needles. He also asks her to find him an acre of land between the salt water and sea covered in heather. If she completes these tasks, then she will be his true love. The song is sung to the tune of an old English round.
