1 Scope and field of application 7 Procedure
This British Standard describes a titrimetric Weigh, to the nearest 0.1 g, about 50 g of the sample
method for the determination of the chloride content into a 500 ml conical flask, add
of technical and dynamite grade glycerols. approximately 200 ml of water and 5 drops of the
potassium chromate solution (4.2). Titrate with the
2 References silver nitrate solution (4.1) until the solution just
turns to a permanent reddish-pink colour.

3 Principle 8 Calculation

The reagents used shall be of a recognized analytical
grade. Distilled water complying with the where
requirements of BS 3978 or water of at least equal V is the volume of the silver nitrate solution

British Standard or regarded as optional.
