Flat T- Shaped bracket

Nail connections

1. Shear connection

t1 = headside thickness

t2 = pointside penetration (> 6d for smooth nails, > 8d for other nails)

2. Double Shear connection


t1 = minimum of head side timber thickness and pointside penetration (> 6d for smooth nails, > 8d for
other nails)

t2 = central member thickness

3. Overlapping Nails

Use when t - t2 > 4d (dia of nail used)

t = central member thickness

t2 = pointside penetration of nail
