Architectural Description
The .....is located downtown in Vancouver, near the seashore where the elements of the
nature meet and create a representative structure for the city .Situated in the heart of the city,
our building is raising from the middle of an urban area as the highest peak of the glaciers
rose above the surface of the land thousands of years ago .Even though we will use the same
construction materials that can be seen everywhere around the city (AWESOME ) Tower will
be an iconic structure thanks to its approach to design and innovative land use planning in
one( a small) location.
The architectural shape of the building is inspired by glaciers which have been the
dominant force in shaping the land surface of the Vancouver area. The design displayed
resembles a glacier travelling slowly over the landscape as in the past giant, slow moving
rivers of ice scoured and shaped mountains valleys and during this proccess, in a large period
of time , modified the landscape.(Awesome name) represents the major glaciations
sculpturing the land during the Ice Age which included at least three major advances and
retreats of glaciers. The melted shape of the glacier is based on the concept of creating a
linkage between the nature, architecture and structural design . The (name) has an unique
arhitectural design highlighted by the T-shape area for the building footprint which aims to
raise awareness towards the climate change. The ’artificial glacier’ created through
engineering techniques to protect the human life is by far geometrically rigid and it will allow
a favourable behaviour to wind loads.

The chosen land use planning is aiming to ensure that visitors and inhabitants of the
building will enjoy the incomparable access to green spaces and will encourage and support
cycling. The bike garage represents a friendly strategy to reduce traffic congestion and to
minimize car dependency. The small garage will be connected to the bike routes already
existing and it will provide an accesible and safe way of transportation through the busy
downtown(core). The park located in the other corner of the building( or included in the area
of the building) is an ingenious approach to provide ecosystem services. Vancouver is
reowned for its natural beauty and cultural diversity. The green oasis main goal is to integrate
and balance the social, economic and environmental needs of the residents taking into
consideration the city history, deep respect for nature and spirituality, all tighlty woven into
the city’s cultural fabric.
The height of the first floor will be double than a typical floor height maximizing the
space for the retail. The top floor will be also used as a retail space providing a panoramic
view of the False Creek inlet. The remaining stories in the building will be rented as offices
spaces. The chosen location will provide to its tenants a quiet workplace....
Furthermore, our purpose is to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly edifice.
Creative approaches are used in order to minimize the carbon footprint and to preserve the
health and quality life of its occupants. Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof in
order to provide an eco-friendly energy source that will replace the old conventional energy.
A renewable source of energy will improve the efficiency of the building and the overall
carbon footprint will be reduced. Each story will be equipped with sensors which can measure
the indoor air quality and how much ventilation is needed.
