The Institution Examination

Ordinances

1. Admission to the Institution Examinations


Examinations of the institution shall be open to the following Categories of candidates:

I. Regular Students
II. Ex-Students
III. Private students

I. Regular Students: Students, who are duly admitted to any one of the following
institutes and are studying in various courses of the institution and attending the
respective classes, will be called Regular Students.
A. Markaz Sharia City Boys Campus
B. Markaz sharia city Girls Campus (Queensland)
C. Academia Madina, Sulthan Batheri
D. Other institutions which are affiliated to Markaz Sharia City
II. Ex-Students: A regular student, who has failed to pass in any of its courses of study, may
be allowed to appear at the same Examination as an Ex-Student.
III. Private Candidates: The following candidates may be permitted by the Academic
Council to appear as Private Candidates at the institution Examinations. Those
candidates who have graduated Mukhthasar (Under graduation) from recognized
institution and who are in service at any Islamic educational institution or as a field work
propagator (the field workers in non-keratitis states and differently abled persons have
special consideration) are included in this category. And those Mutawwal degree holders
who are interested to pursue additional degree from Markaz Sharia City can attend the
institution examinations as private candidate.

2. Application for Registration

2.1 Regular students are not requested to apply for exam registration separately. They are
obliged to attend all examinations notified to them.
2.2 Private and ex-students are obliged to apply before one month of examination or as per
the notification by controller of examination on time to time.

3. Issue of Admission Card

3.1 Regular students are not provided Admission Card. Instead, they have to produce their
identity card before the invigilator.
3.2 The Admission Cards shall be issued to the Private Candidates and ex-students by the office
of the Controller of Examinations.
4.Examination Fee

4.1 All students irrespective of regular, private or ex-students are liable to pay examination fee
as per the prescribed channels.
4.2 The amount of Examination Fee to be charged from students shall be decided by the
Academic Council and notified by the institution from time to time.
4.3 It includes all kind of expenses for conducting exams, valuation and issuing mark list and
certificate.
4.4 In any cases, the examination fee shall not be refunded.

5. Holding of Examinations
The institute conducts two types examination for regular students.

5.1 End semester examination

The Annual Examination (the second semester examination of every year) will normally be held
in Sha’ban every Year, whereas the Semester-end Examinations will normally be held in Rabi Al
Awal or Rabi Al Akhir.

5.2 Mid –semester and Monthly exam

Beside the semester end, the examination shall be held in every month for under graduation
and higher secondary students and mid semester exam would be conducted for post-graduation
students. The date, time and papers of the examination shall be decided by academic council on
time to time.

6. Evaluation

6.1 A programme may be comprised of some of the following components: theory courses,
projects, assignments, note preparation, seminar etc. For various components, the weightage
of marks will be as follows:

 Internal assessment - 30% of allocated marks


 End Semester Examination- 70 % allocated marks

6.2 Internal Assessment

 For the regular students, the Internal Assessment in a course may comprise of mid-
semester or monthly written test, projects, assignments, presentations, seminars,
term papers etc. as prescribed by academic council from time to time.
 For the private students, it consists of projects, assignments, and the performance in
public speaking and writing.
 All reports of co curriculum activities shall be submitted in each semester. And it will
be scrutinized and valued for examination purpose.
 Students who show low performance in internal assessment shall be requested to
return the laptops given by the institution.
6.3 A candidate will be declared to have passed a programme if he/she has secured at least
50% of marks in each course of the said programme.

7. Award of marks

7.1 In each semester, there shall be six papers of which five are written and the
remaining one is pertained to oral test (viva voce) and note making.
7.1 Each paper assumes 100 marks and both viva voce and note making have 50 marks
respectively.
7.2 Each paper shall be of three hours duration.
7.3 A viva-voce examination during every semester in respect of examining the overall
progress shall be conducted by the Examiners as appointed by the Academic
council.
7.4 Since the note making is integral part of the course, it will be checked by special
appointed invigilator. In any case, he suggests any additions, clarifications or to
write the complete note, the respective student shall be obliged to do so for
declaring his examination results.

8 Question pattern
8.1 For under graduation and higher secondary students, the question patterns are as
follows.

 10 fill in the blanks questions - 10 marks


 5 categorical questions - 5 mark
 10 Short type questions -40 marks
 1 essay - 15 marks

8.2 For post-graduation students, the pattern shall be decided by the teachers
themselves. However, all questions will be research oriented.

8.3 Every type of questions shall be arranged in a manner that they shall have additional
options.

9 Declaration of Results

9.1 The results will be declared within fifteen days after the examination or as per
notified by examination controller.
9.2 The details of marks shall be sent by post, e-mails and parent’s meeting will be
convened within the fifteen days of result declaration.
10 Issue of Marks Sheets/Certificates

10.1 All details pertained to examination results shall be uploaded to student


account and parent account on Sharia City website.
10.2 The website will show student details, daily attendance and details of
extra curriculum activities
10.3 On every Friday, students have to submit the report of extra curriculum
activities to be uploaded on website.

11 Re-Evaluation of Answer Scripts


11.1 After the declaration of result, the answer script would be provided to students for
one hour.

11.2 There will be chance to request for Re-Evaluation.

12 Use of Unfair Means /Misbehaviour in Examinations


12.1 No candidate shall bring with him/her in the Examination Hall any book, paper, notes
or other materials which may be used by him/her in connection with the Examination, nor
shall he/she communicate to or receive from any other candidate or person any
information in the Examination Hall.

12.2 No candidate shall note or write anything on the blotting paper or Question Paper or
on any other object/material, except the answer book supplied to him/her.

12 .3 No candidate shall assist or receive assistance from any other candidate or person at
an Examination or make use of any dishonest or unfair means in connection with the
Examination.

12.4 If anyone is found of misbehaviour, he shall be not allowed to continue in


examination hall and he will be disqualified from passing that Examination. In order to be
eligible to appear at the institution examination, he shall submit an apology letter to the
academic director and academic council will decide his appearance in future examination.

13 Attendance (for Regular Students)

13.1 In order to be eligible to appear at the Semester Examination, a student shall be


deemed to have undergone a regular course of study in the institute. So, the
examination shall be open only to candidates who satisfy the requirements of
attendance as prescribed by the institute.
13.2 A relaxation to the maximum extent of eight days in a semester may be accorded
to a student on account of valid reasons.
13.3 If a student is found absent in three classes per day without considerable reason,
he would be recorded as complete day absent.
13.4 As the First Dars is very important to retrieve the lecturing of respective day, the
absence in First Dars and additionally in one class is considered as half day absence.
13.5 If a student is found to have broken the limit, he shall be requested to consult the
Academic director with proof of valid reason for absence. His admission to the exam will
be decided by academic council.

14 Supplementary and Improvement


14.1 The appearance at such an examination in the course will be allowed only once. No
further chance will be given under any circumstances.

14.2 The fee structure for these examinations is follows; per paper Rs. 300 for
supplementary and Rs.100 for the improvement.

15 Convocation
15.1 The convocation for the purpose of conferring Degrees of the institution shall be
held on a date fixed by Executive Council.

15.2 The certificates shall be granted in this grand convocation only for those who
have completed all semester examination successfully.

15.3 A student shall be declared successful only after completion and clearance of all
the theory courses along with the prescribed co curriculum activities.
