Operations Strategy

Modular manufacturing:

Preassembled subassemblies are delivered as they are needed t a company assembly line workers
who quickly piece the modules together into a finished product. In modular manufacturing skill
labor are required.

Continual Improvement Process

A continual improvement process is an ongoing effort to improve products, services, or processes


through incremental and breakthrough improvements.

Flexible Manufacturing System

A flexible manufacturing system is a method for producing goods that is readily adaptable to
changes in the product being manufactured, both in type and quantity.

Job Shop:

A job shop is a type of manufacturing process in which small batches of a variety of custom
products are made. In the job shop process flow, most of the products produced require a unique
set-up and sequencing of process steps. Job shops are usually businesses that perform custom parts
manufacturing for other businesses.

Mass customization:

It is a technique that combines the flexibility and personalization of custom made product with the
low unit costs associated with mass production. Mass customization products may also be referred
to as made to order or build to order. It requires the people, process, units and technology recognize
themselves to give exactly what customer want, when customer want. In mass customization there
is high variety and low volume.

Connected line batch flow:

Components are standardized, each machine function such as job shop but is positioned in the
same order as the parts are processed.
Mass Production System:

Mass production is the manufacture of large quantities of standardized products, frequently


using assembly line or automation technology.
