6. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Manager has the overall responsibility for the implementation of this method
statement and shall well ensure that Sub Contractors as well other team members are aware
of the requirements of the Method Statement.
2. Construction Manager will ensure that the Resources are available to carry out the works as
scheduled.
3. The Project Engineer/Site Engineer is responsible to carry out the works as per approved Shop
Drawings, Method Statements.
4. The Site Engineer/Supervisor is responsible to ensure that the work has been carried out as
per specifications & drawings and inspections are done as per contract.
5. The QA/QC Engineer/ QC inspector is responsible to ensure that the work performed is in
compliance with the approved method statement & other applicable requirements.
6. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that all safety precautions are in place and that the
personnel on site possess the necessary and essential PPE.
7. The Safety Officer is responsible to ensure that essential work permits are available prior to
the commencement of the work.
8. Sub-Contractor is responsible to supply the approved material, execute and complete the
work in all respects as per the contract specifications and agreement.
7. PROCEDURE
7.1. General
1. Before commencement of the work, ascertain the nature and location of all existing services
on site by visual survey.

2. If any protection, rerouting, termination or removals of services are required for the smooth
progressing of work, it will be discussed and written approval will be obtained from Engineer
as appropriate.
7.2. Materials
1. The material shall be approved and shall be used as per the Finishing schedule.
2. Polyester Resin-Polypol-1003.
3. Gelcoat Norpol GS.
4. Glass fibre mat- E Glass strand mat TG Glass fibre 450gm/ m2.
5. Storage – All the paint material shall be delivered in an unopened package and containers
bearing manufacturer’s name & labels. The labels shall include information regarding
batch/stock no, date of manufacture & expiry date. The product must be kept in a cool and
well ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Containers must be kept tightly
closed.
6. Store GRP materials in covered sheds and take precautions to ensure that workmen and the
work area are adequately protected from the fire hazards and health hazards resulting from
handling, mixing and application of GRP systems.
7.3. Surface Preparation for Primer
All the undulations in the wall will be filled with filler materials.
1. The substrate must be sound, clean, dry, free from dust, oil, grease and laitance etc. All traces
of form release agents must be removed. On chalky and dusty surfaces, all loose material
must be removed by stiff bristle brushing or with stone grinder if required.
2. Wall may be washed down with water if required to remove the fine dust.
7.4. Climatic Conditions
3. All work is to be carried out under ambient temperature and weather condition. Higher
temperature will cause faster curing.
4. Relative humidity during application shall be less than 85%.
5. The temperature of the surface to be applied shall be in the range of 15-40 C.
7.5. Method of Application
1. A prime coat of polyester resin is applied to cover all pores and undulations to form a good
binder using a roller. Care is taken to obtain an even surface.
2. Place one layer of E Glass CSM (Chopped Strand Matt) 450gms/ m2 density.
3. Apply one coat of polyester resin on fibre mat and roll properly of expel all entrapped air.
4. Repeat item 4.2 and 4.3 until 3 layers of E Glass CSM is placed in position.
5. Roll out and consolidate, so that all entrapped air goes out and that no air pockets or bubbles
occur. It is then allowed to dry for 24 hours prior to application of final coat.
6. A final coat (white gel coat) with rate of 600 gms/m2.
7.6. Protection
1. Care should be taken to avoid any bodily contact.
2. All work during & after execution will be well protected against weather, direct sunlight
and physical abuse.

9. HEALTH, SAFETY, ENVIRONMENT (HSE)
1. The entire works will be carried out as per the guidelines established in the Project Specific
HSE Plan.
2. Utmost importance shall be given to safety of personnel and protection of services. It will be
ensured that the personnel involved are thoroughly aware of the Pivot Engg. & Gen.
Contracting/ Employer Safety regulations. To achieve the above the following shall also be
ensured:
3. Tool Box Meetings will be conducted before starting the works.
4. All personnel will be provided with suitable Personal Protective Equipment.
5. MSDS shall be made available prior to the start of the job.
6. Proper and safe access will be provided for workmen to reach the work spot and carry out
their works safely.
7. Necessary and essential lighting and ventilation with blower fans will be provided during the
course work.
8. If scaffolding and working platforms are to be provided to facilitate the work, the same will
be checked for its safety.
9. Individuals will not work continuously in confined spaces regularly.
