Masthead: Colour Scheme/ho Use Style

The document discusses how the media product follows and challenges conventions of magazine design. It follows conventions by having the masthead in the top third of the page, using the college's colors in the design, placing cover lines and images without interfering with each other, and putting the barcode in the bottom corner. One challenge is placing the banner and tagline lower on the page instead of by the masthead. The contents page includes page numbers and descriptions but fewer articles to encourage readers to explore the whole magazine.

How I
followed/challen
ged codes and
conventions?
In my magazine I think I followed
codes and conventions fairly well. My
masthead remains in the first
horizontal third of the page
conventional as other magazines. The
main image although not involving
direct address has a main focal point
with the hotspot areas. Ive followed
an evident colour scheme of the
college colours ; purple, orange, green
and blue which and altered between
the colours to give it that look of an
already established magazine. My
cover lines are all to one side of a the
page allowing insight to the
magazines content without actually
interfering with the main image, my
main cover line somewhat anchors
the main image although not
obviously. I've kept the barcode in the
bottom right corner also known as
the dead are as it is irrelevant to
readers. The only thing slightly
unconventional would be the banner
& tagline, in magazines they are
usually kept to the top of the page
near the mast head so it is easily
associated however Ive placed mine

conventions?
It includes page numbers of articles
as well as description of each.
The images all anchor to the
descriptions giving them more of an
insight to the articles content.
I have challenged codes and
conventions though slightly I've
kept things very minimalistic only
including a few of the magazines
articles in the contents with very
brief descriptions. I did this because
I wanted students to know for
themselves of the magazines
content and have to look through
each page rather than skipping to
the ones that sound most appealing
to them. It gives them a chance to
