Chromatic dispersion is a phenomenon in fiber optics where different wavelengths of light travel through the fiber at different speeds, causing signal spreading. It can increase the bit error rate of transmitted signals. There are different types of dispersion such as chromatic dispersion. Chromatic dispersion can be compensated for through the use of dispersion compensation fibers, Bragg gratings, or by decreasing the impulse spectral width during transmission. Proper management of chromatic dispersion is important for fiber optic systems.

1. Compensation:
- Fibers DCF & RDF,
- Bragg Gratings technique.

2. Decreasing impulse spectral width:

- external modulation,
- pulse shaping of current modulation.

3. Soliton transmission.
