Core Competency 1

Demonstrate Ethical and Professional Behavior


Practice Behavior : 1.1
• Make ethical decisions by applying the standards of the NASW Code of
Ethics, relevant laws and regulation models for the ethical decision-making,
ethical conduct of research and additional codes of ethics as appropriate
content.
• I will make ethical decisions by referring back to the NASW Code of Ethics
as a professional guideline while working at the agency. While considering
ethical conduct the appropriate research is gaining the correct knowledge of
the agency’s history and background.
Practice Behavior : 1.2
• Use reflection and self-regulation to manage personal values and maintain
professionalism in practice situations.
• I will demonstrate reflection and self- regulation by bringing in past work
experience along with my own personal value to maintain integrity on behalf
of myself and the agency.
Practice Behavior: 1.3
• Demonstrate professional demeanor in behavior, appearance; and oral,
written and electronic communication.
• In order to demonstrate a professional demeanor at all times I will need to
have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to individuals. To
obtain the highest result of professionalism my appearance will reflect upon
the agency dress code policy. When evaluating skills for the agency I will
have to enhance my soft skills by orally communicating with others. I will
also present hard skills by understanding how to communicate using
technology.
Practice Behavior: 1.4
• Use technology ethically and appropriately to facilitate practice outcomes.
• When using technology at work I will strictly abide by the agency rules and
etiquette. Doing so will allow me to achieve outcomes that enhances the
entire agency.
Core Competency 2
Engage Diversity and Differences in Practice
Practice Behavior 2.01
• Applying and communicate understanding of the importance of diversity
and difference in shaping life experience in practice at the micro, mezzo and
macro level.
• As a school social workers we embrace diversity by understanding and
respecting that each student is different.
Practice Behavior 2.02
• Present themselves as learners and engage clients and constituencies as
experts of their own experience
• Actively learning about different cultures through the correct resources.
Those resources include clients, communities and organizations
Practice Behavior 2.03
• Applying self-awareness and self-regulation to manage the influence of
personal biases and values in working with diverse clients and constituencies.
• Understanding my personal values and morals and how they may be different
to eliminate bias that I may have about other cultures.
Core Competency 3
Advance Human Rights, and Social , Economic and
Environmental Justice.
Practice Behavior 3.01
• Applying understanding social economic, and environmental justice to for
human rights at the individual and system levels.
• Understanding the basic human rights such as safety, standard of living and
education. By having the correct knowledge of basic human rights my
supervisor and I are able to promote social, economic human rights for our
students.
Practice Behavior 3.02
• Engage in practices that advance social, economic and environmental
justice.
• This week my supervisor and I engaged in practices that advance social,
economic and environmental justice by proactively working with other staff
members and parents so that students may achieve their fullest potential in
education by keeping up with attendance.
Core Competency 4
Engage in Practice-informed Research & Research-informed

• Use practice experience & theory to inform scientific inquiry & research
• Develop individualized plans for studens with measurable goals and monitor
progress while utilizing research questions.
Practice Behavior 4.2
• Apply critical thinking to engage analysis of quantitative and qualitative
research methods and research findings

Practice Behavior 5.01
• Identify social policy, at the local, state and federal level that impacts well-
being, service delivery and access to social services.
• Meeting with supervisor/parents to identify resources that are available for
students/parents on campus.
Practice Behavior 5.02
• Asses how social welfare and economic policies impact the delivery of and
access to social services.

• Conducing the strengths/weakness of agency with supervisor.


Practice Behavior 5.03
• Applying critical thinking to analyze, formulate, and advocate for policies
that advance human rights and social, economic and environmental justice.
• To always apply the NASW code of ethics within the agency to help
promote the well-being of our students.
Competency 6
Engage with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and
Communities.
Practice Behavior 6.01
• Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-
environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks to engage
with clients and constituencies.
• Understanding the student’s situations and needs.
• Providing support for the changes that will be made in the students life
Practice Behavior 6.02
• Use empathy, reflection, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage diverse
clients and constituencies.
• Actively listening to the students and being able to share common interest.

Assess Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and

Practice Behavior 7.01
• Collect and organize data, and apply critical thinking to interpret information
from clients and constituencies.

• Collecting IEP (individual educational plan) that my supervisor, teachers and


I conducted on a student in order to help meet the student needs.
Practice Behavior 7.02
• Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-
environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in
interventions with clients and constituencies
• Once IEP is completed we observed student to see how they were adapting
and if they were meeting IEP goals.
Practice Behavior 7.03
• Develop mutually agreed-on intervention goals and objectives based on the
critical assessment of strengths, needs, and challenges within clients and
constituencies
• Discuss with parents, supervisor and child any changes that need to be made
in order for the student to reach their goal.
Practice Behavior 7.04
• Select appropriate intervention strategies based on the assessment, research
knowledge, and values and preferences of clients and constituencies
• Work with parent and also teachers in order to continue to access the best
plan for student to reach their goal.
Core Competency 8
Interventions With Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations
and Communties
Practice Behavior 8.01
• Critically choose and implement interventions to achieve practice goals and
enhance capacities of clients constituenices.
• Observed a meeting with all the social workers of Robeson County Public
Schools. Staff discussed ways to advocate services for their desired
population.
Practice Behavior 8.02
• Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-
environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical framework in
interventions with clients constituencies.
• Help supervisor create a resource board in front of her office that offered
helpful information for parents and students.
Practice Behavior 8.03
• Use inter-professional collaboration as an appropriate to achieve beneficial
outcomes.

• Observed meeting with supervisor and employee from the Department Of


Social Services where they discuss ways to collaborate together in order to
improve their services.
Practice Behavior 8.04
• Facilitate effective transitions and ending that advance mutually agree-on-
goals.
• Attend a meeting where the parent and my supervisor discuss goals in order
to improve the student’s attendance.
Competency 9
Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups,
Organizations, and Communities
Practice Behavior 9.01
• Select and use appropriate methods for evaluation of outcomes.
• Made a checklist for student/parents and staff to see the progress students
made toward their goals.
Practice Behavior 9.02
• Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-
environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the
evaluation of outcomes.
• Monitoring students classroom, once they’ve made their checklist for their
goals.
Practice Behavior 9.3
• Critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate intervention and program processes
and outcomes.

• Check with teachers and evolutions of the progress on the student.


Practice Behavior 9.4
• Apply evaluation findings to improve practice effectiveness at the micro,
mezzo, and macro levels.
• Assess different resources within the community and school based of the
students progress and evaluation.
