 Paleolitic Age/Era – the


era where the usage of
STONE TOOLS were
developed.

 Neolitic Age/Era – the era
where the means of
ARGRICULTURE was
used. The ancient settlers
also utilized fire in different
aspects, such as using fire
in making pottery.

(copper, bronze)
TOOLS were
developed and
replaced the stone
tools.

To sum it all up, these


prehistoric periods are part
of the PRE-COLONIAL
PHILIPPINES. Other parts
of the Philippine Pre-

different systems of trade,
marriage, territory and
many others.

– the arrival of the
Spaniards and their
conquest in the
Philippines.

➢ American Colonization
– After the Treaty of
Paris, Spain sold the
Philippine Archipelago
to the U.S., thus
putting the Philippines
under the U.S.
government.

The U.S. thought of granting


independence to the Philippines years
later, and to prepare the country for
that, the U.S. government granted the
Philippines a government composed
of Filipinos (called Commonwealth)
which was to exist in a ten-year
period.

➢ Japanese Colonization -
After attacking Pearl
Harbor, the Japanese
attacked Philippines as
well. This interrupted the
10 year commonwealth
period. Their occupation
lasted for about 3 years.

➢ Independence – After the
retreat of the Japanese,
the Philippines stood back
up on its feet through the
newly constructed Third
Republic of the
government, with help
from the U.S. government
as well.

changes, and continuities in our society.
➢ Through periodization, it is much easier to identify and classify the origin of
different ideas and objects; as well as ancestries.
