Seasonal Forest

Seasonal forests are located in tropical and subtropical regions that experience distinct wet and dry seasons. [1] Plants in seasonal forests are adapted to shed their leaves during the dry season to conserve water. [2] These forests provide important benefits such as storing groundwater, preventing floods and erosion, and absorbing carbon dioxide. [3] Seasonal forests are found between 30 degrees north and south latitude, occupying parts of Mexico, Central and South America, Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and northern Australia.

Seasonal Forest Definition

The forest is an area that has many bushes of various types in it and
occupies a large area. Includes one of the most important aspects of
the Earth's biosphere because its existence can accommodate the
carbon dioxide exhaust gas that can cause air pollution, and the
habitat of many animal populations as well as plants.
Seasonal forest are forests included in terrestrial ecosystems, located
in temperate regions of tropical monsoon (climates with droughts and
rain), ie areas with distinctions between clear and wet seasons are
well-balanced and clear. It is common in areas with tropical and
subtropical climates that have a warm climate throughout the year
and experience a dry season for several months, forcing most plants to
abort their leaves and affect the living population within them.
Seasonal Forest Characteristic

1. The types of plants present in the forest ecosystem of the season are
dominated by tree species that shed their leaves in the dry season, the
regular season forest is also called leaf deciduous forest
2. Plants contained in the Forest Season usually form a seasonal
formation, for example in the dry season leaves will molt or fall to
reduce evaporation.
3. The wood coat is so thick that it can survive when the dry season
comes.
4. Generally the plant species found in seasonal forest are trophropit
plants, ie plants that are able to adapt to the rainy and dry seasons,
also resistant to long drought.
5. The most distinctive feature of the seasonal forest will be seen when
the seasons change because in the rainy season all the vegetation in
the forest of the season will grow very heavily and in contrast to the
dry season most of the plants will shed their leaves.
Seasonal Forest Characteristic
6. The duration of the deciduous leaves depends on the supply of
water in the soil, allowing different conditions to be seen even in the
same forest. Example: if the position of the tree adjacent to the river
ecosystem, the leaves will fall alternately.
7. And when the rainy season comes, the trees produce new leaves,
seeds, and fruit, but this happens as long as the water supply in the
soil is sufficient.
8. Flower trees in the forest season generally can be seen from the
outside of the canopy, so easily seen by animals or insects to take
pollen.
9. Forest seasons are usually named according to the species of plants
that dominate the forest. Example: teak forests, because plants grown
in the forest are dominated by teak trees.
10. Dominated species of single-titled tree that does not overlap with
the average tree height of 15-35 meters so it still allows sunlight to
reach the soil that grows trees and grow various other plants.
Seasonal Forest Benefits

•Because of most plant species residing in this region are so strong

that they are useful for storing and storing ground water.
•Prevent floods and landslides.
•Prevent the causes of abrasion.
•In addition, the forest area of the season is known as a producer of
natural resource types such as timber and other forest products.
•Lastly as a global climate balancer where the forest season also helps
in the absorption of carbon dioxide and prevents global warming.
Temperature, Edafic, Moisture , and Ph Seasonal Forest

The temperature of the seasonal forest is 38.60c this is due to the

hot weather during the day, with the humidity of 40 and the texture
of clay and dusty cracked ground texture. Soil moisture With no
light intensity found, wind speed is also not found, litter 3.4 cm, has
a clay soil texture (Ph 7).
Seasonal Distribution in the World and Latitude
Seasonal forests, largely confined to
the tropics; Most are found
between 30 North latitude and
South Latitude. Much of Mexico is
found in this biome, just like the
expanse of forests on the west
coast of Central America. South
America has these biomes in the
northeast, around Brazil and
Argentina. Africa has extensive
seasonal forests; there is between
sub-Saharan Africa to the east coast
of Africa, to south africa. This
biome is also present in India,
Southeast Asia, and northern
Australia as well. In Indonesia
commonly many found in Java
island, Nusa Tenggara, Molucca
(Maluku), and Papua.
