The 10 International Ursing Conference: Surabaya, 7 April 2019

1. Hypertension is highly prevalent among Asian elderly populations, affecting over 68% of those aged 65 and older in countries like Korea, Singapore, and Indonesia. 2. Arterial stiffness increases with age, resulting in declining ejection and recoil that can trigger strokes, heart failure, and other issues. Hypertension is a major cause of premature death worldwide in those over 65, disproportionately affecting women. 3. A literature review identified 6 eligible studies from Asia involving 537 hypertensive elderly participants. The studies evaluated various interventions for blood pressure control like nutrition, peer support, health promotion, and self-blood pressure monitoring. Further systematic reviews are still needed to fully assess the impact of different interventions
