                 Introduction
Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) is a computer –
 based vehicle tracking system
The actual real –time position of each vehicle is
determined and relayed to a control center
AVL systems include: computer -aided dispatch
software, mobile data terminals, emergency alarms,
 and digital communications
What is AVL Technology?
AVL systems use satellite and land communications to
 display each vehicle's
             location
            status
            heading
            speed on the computer's
            screen.

Navigation Technologies
• There are four types of NAVIGATION
 TECHNOLOGIES:-
     Global Positioning System
     Dead-Reckoning System
     Signpost Systems
     Radio Navigation Systems
About GPS:
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a
 space-based satellite navigation system that
provides location and time information in all
weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where
there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or
 more GPS satellites.

         MORE ABOUT GPS…..
• There are six different orbiting
    patterns that the GPS satellites
    follow, making a complete trip
around the earth every 12 hours.
MORE ABOUT GPS…..
 The best position for any
  GPS antenna is generally
as high as possible with the
  best unrestricted view.
 The information regarding
  the location of the transit
   vehicle is calculated
  by TRILATERATION method.
TRACKING SYSTEMS
There are two types of tracking systems
                    PASSIVE TRACKING
                    REAL TIME TRACKING

A GPS BASED AVL sYSTEM
                MAPPING
Maps allow a tangible, understandable view of
vehicles location and will also allow operators to
 apply local knowledge.
     CURRENT LIMITATION OF
        EXISTING METHOD
User compulsory needs a computer to access lost
 vehicle information.
User cannot decode GPS coordinates by himself.
AVL Benefits:
                   Uses Of AVL
Vehicle location display in real-time.
Recording of arrival and departure times (proof of
  delivery etc).
Monitoring of driving practices (speed).
Alerts if vehicle leaves or enters a defined area.
       Applications Of AVL
In Military
Track Anything
In Cargo
                  In cargo
                   Conclusion
By using GPS we can track the location of the vehicle
It is a cost effective and efficient technique
It gives protection to the vehicles and also the accident
  alerts
Thank You!!!
