Donepezil HCl (Aricept) is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of mild, moderate, and severe Alzheimer's disease as well as vascular dementia associated with cardiovascular disease. It has a starting dosage of 5mg daily which can be increased to 10mg after 1 month. Common adverse reactions include diarrhea, muscle cramps, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, dizziness, psychiatric disturbances, headache, and syncope.
